How much does the 2025 BMW X5 cost?

Is the 2025 BMW X5 a good car?

The 2025 BMW X5 earns an 8.33/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Technology, and Safety.

It remains a midsize luxury SUV that sits between the X3 and X7, and it continues to appeal if you want a premium family vehicle with strong road manners and a comfortable ride. The trade-offs are clear: it is weak value compared with rivals, and advanced safety features are not standard.

With 34.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 BMW X5 reliable?

The 2025 BMW X5 is presented as a well-rounded luxury SUV that has lasted in a crowded class because it balances multiple powertrain choices, handling, and comfort. Its expert evaluation also points to a vehicle that meets expectations for interior space, driving dynamics, and technology.

On the dependability side, the performance notes highlight a smooth, precise chassis and powertrains that deliver strong everyday drivability. BMW’s four-year/80,000-kilometre new-vehicle warranty is also comparable to most rivals.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that value is not especially strong, so depreciation and upkeep can matter more than they do in some alternatives.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW X5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model comes with 20-inch wheels and run-flat all-season tires, while M Sport versions add sportier bumpers and a leather steering wheel. Higher appearance and performance packages add items such as an M Sport exhaust system, illuminated grille, Shadowline headlights, and larger wheels with performance tires.
• Powertrain: In Canada, you can find a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six with standard all-wheel drive, a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, and a plug-in hybrid that pairs the inline-six with a larger electric motor and a 19.2-kWh battery pack.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning, but not adaptive cruise control. The Advanced Driver Assistance Package adds Highway Assistant, a hands-free system that also handles steering at speeds up to 135 km/h.
• Infotainment: You get a curved dashboard display with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. BMW Operating System 8, voice recognition, steering wheel controls, and gesture control are also included.
• Fuel efficiency: Six-cylinder models are rated at 9.4 L/100 km combined, while the V8 uses 12.3 L/100 km combined.

Which 2025 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW X5 is offered in 4 trim levels: xDrive40i, xDrive50e, M60i xDrive, and X5 M Competition.

Here's the short version:

• xDrive40i: This is the best-value starting point if you want the X5’s core strengths without chasing the highest price. It gives you the standard turbocharged inline-six, all-wheel drive, and the same well-rounded driving character that defines the model.
• xDrive50e: Choose this if you want the plug-in hybrid setup and the added efficiency of electric-only driving. It also gets the standard air suspension, which makes it especially appealing if comfort matters most.
• M60i xDrive: This is the pick if you want the V8’s extra performance and are willing to pay for it. It suits you best if straight-line speed matters more than value.
• X5 M Competition: This is the full-performance choice, with the most extreme output in the lineup. It makes sense only if you want maximum speed and are shopping at the top end.

The standard safety package is solid, but adaptive cruise control requires an upgrade.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW X5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 147 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.15% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $82,561 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $85,511 CAD sits slightly below last year's $97,335 CAD.

That drop suggests the X5 is currently in a softer pricing phase, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means resale values may not be as strong as they were a year ago, especially if you buy near the top of the range. If you plan to keep the vehicle for a while, the current market may offer a better entry point than it did previously.

Is the 2025 BMW X5 safe?

The 2025 BMW X5 earns a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal and rollover crash tests, and five-star ratings in side crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver aids include lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning. If you want adaptive cruise control, you need the Advanced Driver Assistance Package, which also brings Highway Assistant, a hands-free system that can steer at speeds up to 135 km/h.

Parking tech is also fairly strong: the standard setup includes Reversing Assistant, and available Parking Assistant Professional adds Active Park Distance Control, a 360-degree camera system, and Maneuver Assistant.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.15% compared with last year.
• It keeps the 2024 update and adds a limited-edition anniversary model.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $72,219 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $85,511 CAD average.
• It delivers rewarding plug-in hybrid driving with about 63 kilometres of electric-only range.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It offers four versions and a broader sense of choice for buyers.
• It adds a 64-kilometre electric-only range in xDrive50e form.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version with the current market softness, the 2025 is the straightforward choice. If price matters most, the 2024 is the better value play, while the 2026 makes sense if you want to compare a broader lineup before buying.
