How much does the 2025 BMW X3 cost?

Prices have softened 11.38% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 355 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 a good car?

Generally — the 2025 BMW X3 earns 4/5 from owners and 7.5/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The redesigned X3 is aimed at you if you want a compact luxury SUV that feels more driver-focused than traditional. Its unusual design, minimalist cabin, and impressive technology help it stand out, and BMW gives you plenty of ways to tailor the vehicle to your preferences. The trade-offs are clear: the ride can be firm and jiggly on imperfect roads, and the technology can be unintuitive.

The X3’s value proposition is strong, especially if you care more about driving enjoyment and modern design than plushness. Good and great deals account for 34.6% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The X3 is presented as a well-rounded compact luxury SUV with strong driving dynamics and a premium feel, but its reliability story for used buyers is best read through ownership experience and the expert review’s notes on day-to-day usability. The turbocharged 2.0-litre engine is described as a gem, with a broad power band and strong responsiveness, and the mild-hybrid system helps make the start-stop system nearly imperceptible.

BMW also includes complimentary maintenance for the length of a typical lease, which is a useful ownership perk. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the X3’s sophisticated technology and premium hardware may be more expensive to live with if you run into issues outside the warranty period.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW X3?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X3 30 xDrive and M50 xDrive differ sharply in character, with the 30 xDrive leaning into value and the M50 xDrive focusing on stronger performance. The cabin is minimalist rather than lavish, and some interior materials feel cheaper than you might expect in a luxury SUV.
• Powertrain: The 30 xDrive uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, while the M50 xDrive uses a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder with 393 hp. The base engine is praised for its broad power delivery and strong responsiveness.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and front, side, and rear parking sensors. The Premium Package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and Steering Assistant, while the Parking Assistant Professional Package adds semi-automated parking tech and remote parking functions.
• Infotainment: The BMW Curved Display runs Operating System 9, also known as iDrive 9. Wireless Apple CarPlay is included and worked intuitively in testing. The system can be frustrating, though, and the review notes problems with profile loading and occasional screen freezes.
• Fuel efficiency: The official combined fuel consumption is 8.1 L/100 km.

Which 2025 BMW X3 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW X3 is offered in 2 trim levels: 30 xDrive and M50 xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• 30 xDrive: This is the best-value choice if you want the redesigned X3’s style, strong standard equipment, and rewarding driving character without paying for the performance upgrade. It still gets the broad power band, mild-hybrid assistance, and standard AWD, so it should suit most shoppers well.
• M50 xDrive: Choose this if you want the quickest, most powerful X3 and are willing to pay for it. It is the more performance-focused option, but the review makes clear that the 30 xDrive already feels satisfying enough for many buyers.

The safety package is split across trims and packages, so make sure the vehicle you’re considering includes the driver-assistance features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW X3?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 355 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.38% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $61,133 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $61,388 CAD sits slightly below last year's $69,273 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar right away. If you buy now, you may benefit from the softer pricing, but resale upside will depend on how well the market absorbs this model year over time. Strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when you eventually sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 safe?

The 2025 BMW X3 earns a four-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), one notch below a top five-star rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and front, side, and rear parking sensors. The Premium Package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and Steering Assistant technology to keep the X3 centred in the lane of travel, while the Parking Assistant Professional Package adds semi-automated parking tech and remote parking functions.

One caveat is that Steering Assistant can be frustrating when used without adaptive cruise control, so you may prefer to rely on lane-keeping assist alone except on wide-open highways.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The redesigned X3 brings unusual design, impressive technology, and a strong driver-focused character.

Consider the 2026 if:

• The base model gets a slightly more upscale interior.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned X3 at a softer price, the 2025 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly improved base-model cabin, the 2026 is worth a look, but price-sensitive shoppers should focus on the 2025.
