How much does the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

Prices have softened 16.04% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 5/5 user-rated SUV with an expert score of 7.5/10. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The Tiguan’s appeal starts with stylish design and continues with good handling, giving it a more polished feel than many shoppers may expect from a mainstream SUV. It also brings value in areas that matter to most buyers, including standard advanced safety features.

The trade-offs are worth noting: the driving experience is not especially impressive, the throttle can be irritating, and the seats are uncomfortable. It also does not offer a hybrid option, which may matter if you want better efficiency or electrified power.

With 28.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s a decent amount of market flexibility if you’re shopping carefully.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Tiguan is backed by Volkswagen’s premium positioning and a four-year/80,000-kilometre bumper-to-bumper limited warranty, including 24/7 roadside assistance. Volkswagen also includes a complimentary four-year subscription to VW Car-Net, which adds remote access, automatic crash notifications, and stolen vehicle location assistance.

Its standard turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic transmission give it a conventional mechanical setup, and Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel drive is standard in Canada. That said, the model’s mixed driving impressions and lack of a hybrid option mean used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance history and how the vehicle has been driven.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Trendline comes with heated front seats and cloth seating surfaces, while higher trims add features such as a power tailgate, panoramic sunroof, real leather, front-seat ventilation, a heated steering wheel, and rear-seat heating.

Travel Assist arrives at the Comfortline trim, and Park Distance Control becomes standard at the Comfortline R-Line Black trim.
• Infotainment: The Tiguan uses an 8-inch centre touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Volkswagen’s Digital Cockpit System is standard, while only the R-Line trims get the fully configurable 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro screen.

Which 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan trim should I buy?

The 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan is offered in 4 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, Comfortline R-Line, and Highline R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already gives you heated front seats, cloth upholstery, standard LED lighting, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the core safety equipment. It makes sense if you want the Tiguan’s style and standard all-wheel drive without paying for extras.
• Comfortline: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds an eight-way power driver’s seat, leatherette upholstery, a power tailgate, wireless charging, and Travel Assist. If you want the most useful upgrades without stretching too far, this is the one to target.
• Comfortline R-Line: This trim adds the R-Line appearance and panoramic sunroof, while also bringing the more advanced Digital Cockpit Pro screen. Choose it if you want a more upscale cabin presentation and the extra tech.
• Highline R-Line: This is the most luxurious version, with real leather, front-seat ventilation, a heated steering wheel, driver’s seat memory, heated outboard rear seats, and the premium audio system. It suits you best if comfort and features matter more than value.

• Inventory: There are 658 listings available.

What is the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $29,476 CAD sits slightly below last year's $35,106 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make it harder for sellers to command top dollar right now. If you’re planning to sell later, the current softness means your return will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim.

Should I buy a 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Volkswagen’s 2024 updates improve value while keeping the Tiguan’s premium look and standard safety equipment.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $27,238 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $29,476 CAD average.
• It offers more interior space and a third-row seat.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $39,755 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $29,476 CAD average.
• It brings a redesigned cabin with a corrected user interface.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, style, and standard safety, the 2024 is the strongest all-around pick. If price matters most, the 2023 is the cheaper route; if you want the newest cabin and can spend more, the 2025 is the upgrade path.
