Should I buy a 2024 Volkswagen Golf R or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.72% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $50,223 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $45,475 CAD average.
• It adds a new touchscreen infotainment system.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the better value if you want the Golf R’s performance and equipment without paying the newer-year premium. If you care most about the latest infotainment update and are comfortable spending more, the 2025 is the cleaner upgrade path.
