Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Volkswagen Golf R?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 136 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.80% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $45,305 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R's resale value?

The current average of $45,310 CAD sits slightly below last year's $48,102 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable level, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you sell later, the Golf R’s strong performance reputation and premium positioning should help it stay desirable. The current inventory level also suggests buyers are still actively comparing examples, which can support demand for clean, well-priced cars.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Volkswagen Golf R or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.80% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $50,325 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $45,310 CAD average.
• It adds a new touchscreen infotainment system.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2024 if you want the stronger value proposition and are comfortable shopping the used market carefully. Consider the 2025 if the updated infotainment and newer model-year appeal matter more than price; otherwise, the 2024 is the better buy for price-sensitive shoppers.
