Is the 2024 GMC Yukon XL a good car?

The 2024 GMC Yukon XL stands out as a full-size SUV built around space, flexibility, and long-distance family hauling. Its extra-long body adds more than 30 centimetres between the front and rear axles, which translates into more room for third-row passengers and more cargo space behind them. It also benefits from the fourth generation’s independent rear suspension, a change that improves ride and handling while helping create a more comfortable third row and additional cargo capacity.

For buyers who need a large SUV that feels more refined than older truck-based designs, that combination is a major part of its appeal. The Yukon XL also received updated exterior styling and an upgraded infotainment system, and it offers meaningful powertrain choice depending on whether you prioritise power or efficiency.

With 28.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 GMC Yukon XL reliable?

The 2024 GMC Yukon XL stands out as a full-size SUV built around space, flexibility, and long-distance family hauling. Its extra-long body adds more than 30 centimetres between the front and rear axles, which translates into more room for third-row passengers and more cargo space behind them. It also benefits from the fourth generation’s independent rear suspension, a change that improves ride and handling while helping create a more comfortable third row and additional cargo capacity.

Its strengths are clear: generous passenger room, abundant cargo space, multiple powertrain choices, and a more comfortable ride than older versions. The trade-offs are just as obvious, though, because the Yukon XL is still a large, heavy SUV with poor fuel economy and handling that trails car-based crossovers.

For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is tied more to size, complexity, and operating costs than to the vehicle’s core usefulness.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 GMC Yukon XL?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to compare listings carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 94 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.22% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $75,440 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 GMC Yukon XL's resale value?

The current average of $79,975 CAD sits slightly below last year's $87,140 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the Yukon XL easier to buy now than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that also means you should expect resale values to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment if you want to stay near the stronger end of the market. If you buy well today, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later.

Should I buy a 2024 GMC Yukon XL or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.22% compared with last year.

The bottom line:

The 2024 makes sense if you want the Yukon XL’s space, comfort, and updated equipment while taking advantage of a softer market. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth considering, especially if you can find a lower-mileage example with the features you want.
