Is the 2024 GMC Yukon XL a good car?

The 2024 GMC Yukon XL stands out as a full-size SUV built around space, capability, and a more refined ride than older versions. It adds more than 30 centimetres between the front and rear axles, which gives it extra passenger room and cargo space. For this generation, GMC also switched to an independent rear suspension, a change that improves ride and handling while helping create a more comfortable third row and additional cargo capacity.

For you, that means the Yukon XL makes the most sense if you value towing, passenger space, and a more modern driving experience in a large SUV. It also offers a broad range of trims and equipment, so you can shop for a version that fits your needs more closely.

28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there is still some room to find value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 GMC Yukon XL reliable?

The 2024 GMC Yukon XL is built around a familiar full-size SUV formula, with a standard 5.3-litre V8 and available features such as four-corner air ride adaptive suspension. Its updated exterior styling and upgraded infotainment system also point to a more modern ownership experience.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a large, truck-based SUV can bring higher running costs and more complexity than a smaller vehicle, especially if you plan to keep it for many years.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 GMC Yukon XL?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have some leverage if you are patient and compare listings closely.

• Deal availability: 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 104 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.31% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $75,454 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 GMC Yukon XL's resale value?

The current average of $79,431 CAD sits slightly below last year's $86,634 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you as a buyer today but may also mean future resale gains are more limited. If you buy at the right price, you may have a better chance of protecting your value over time. If you overpay, the softer trend could work against you when it is time to sell.

Should I buy a 2024 GMC Yukon XL or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.31% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2024 is a sensible choice if you want the updated styling, upgraded infotainment, and the Yukon XL’s core strengths in space and capability. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2024 gives you a strong mix of value and modern features.
