Is the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Generally — the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 4/5 user rating, and its appeal is strongest if you want a roomy, value-focused midsize sedan with plenty of space, pleasing styling, and easy-to-use features. It is positioned as a straightforward family car that is generally cheaper than rivals such as the Camry or Accord, so it makes the most sense if you value practicality and price over polish. The Malibu also benefits from an intuitive infotainment setup and available active safety features, though it is not especially engaging to drive and can feel cheaper than some competitors.

29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Chevrolet Malibu comes from the Malibu’s most refined front-drive generation, and it earned stronger reliability marks than earlier Malibus. It also feels higher in quality than its predecessors, while still being less refined than some rivals. For used buyers, that means the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright dependability and more about accepting a car that prioritises value and comfort over class-leading polish.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 219 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.64% compared with last year.

What is the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $23,640 CAD sits slightly below last year's $27,060 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has become more accessible on the used market, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car is equipped. Because the model is positioned as a value-focused sedan, keeping it clean and well maintained will matter if you want to stand out later.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2024 Malibu is the better pick if you want a roomy, value-focused midsize sedan and you like the idea of buying into a model year with softer pricing and decent deal availability. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby year with similar fundamentals may be worth comparing, but the 2024 is the cleaner choice if you want the latest version of this formula without paying a premium.
