Used 2024 BMW X5 for Sale nearEdmonton, AB

How much does the 2024 BMW X5 cost?

Prices have softened 10.92% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 172 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 BMW X5 earns a 4.83/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its smooth hybrid performance, comfort, and impressive technology, and they also call out hands-free driving and electric range as favourites. That lines up well with the X5’s use case as a premium midsize SUV that still puts driving enjoyment at the centre of the experience.

The main trade-offs are its poor voice recognition technology and weak value for money, while advanced safety features are not standard. Even so, if you want a luxury SUV that feels rewarding behind the wheel rather than merely competent, the X5 fits that brief well.

36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels smooth, comfortable, and dependable in day-to-day use, with technology and electric driving range adding to its appeal. The expert evaluation also describes the X5’s build quality and driving character in a way that supports confidence in its long-term ownership appeal.

BMW’s plug-in hybrid system adds complexity, so used buyers should pay close attention to charging behaviour, battery use, and whether the vehicle has been maintained consistently. That matters most if you plan to rely on the electric side of the powertrain regularly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 BMW X5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X5’s M Sport and M Sport Pro packages change the look and equipment level, and the base setup may leave you wanting more if you value a richer appearance or more features.
• Powertrain: You can shop turbocharged inline-six, plug-in hybrid, turbocharged V8, and higher-performance V8 versions, so make sure the one you choose matches your driving and efficiency priorities.
• Safety package: BMW’s Highway Assistant hands-free driving assistance system is available, but advanced safety features are not standard, so confirm exactly which driver aids are fitted.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 14.9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, over-the-air updates, and BMW Operating System 8.5.
• Fuel efficiency: The plug-in hybrid is rated at 10.6 L/100 km in combined driving, and the test vehicle recorded 7.0 L/100 km on one mixed journey.

Which 2024 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2024 BMW X5 is offered in 4 trim levels: xDrive40i, xDrive50e, M60i, X5 M Competition.

Here's the short version:

• xDrive40i: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core X5 experience with the turbocharged inline-six and BMW’s standard luxury-SUV formula. It makes sense if you want the least expensive way into the model, but you should be sure the equipment level is enough for you.
• xDrive50e: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds the plug-in hybrid powertrain, strong performance, and meaningful electric-only range. It is the version that best matches the X5’s blend of efficiency and driving enjoyment.
• M60i: Choose this if you want the turbocharged V8 character and stronger straight-line performance, and you are willing to pay more for it.
• X5 M Competition: This is the full-performance choice for buyers who want maximum output and the most aggressive X5 experience.

BMW’s Highway Assistant is available for 2024, but advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 BMW X5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price movement to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 172 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.92% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $70,384 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $72,083 CAD sits slightly below last year's $80,915 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may temper short-term resale expectations if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the current softness means you may not recover as much as earlier owners did, especially if the vehicle is priced above the market average.

Even so, the X5’s premium positioning and strong owner satisfaction help support demand. Well-equipped examples with the right powertrain and condition should remain easier to move than less desirable luxury SUVs.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 safe?

The 2024 X5 earns four-star ratings from NHTSA, and the IIHS gave it high ratings, although lower headlight ratings prevented it from earning an IIHS safety award.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW’s Highway Assistant hands-free driving assistance system is available, and it works with Assisted Driving Plus cruise control mode. Standard operation includes indicators in the digital display or head-up display, plus green lights on the steering wheel when the system is ready. The system is generally effective in dense, slow-moving traffic and at higher speeds in light traffic.

A key caveat is that the driver aids can behave unpredictably in some traffic situations, including occasional abrupt braking. Advanced safety features are not standard, so you should verify the exact equipment on any used example you consider.

Should I buy a 2024 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a substantial update, including the BMW Curved Display and available Highway Assistant.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $85,817 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $72,083 CAD average.
• It adds a limited-edition 25th-anniversary model.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2024 is the smarter buy because it already captures the major update and now sits at a more attractive price point. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year and do not mind the limited changes, the 2025 is the cleaner alternative for price-insensitive shoppers.
