How much does the 2024 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 14.46% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 197 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Acura MDX a good car?

The 2024 Acura MDX is a strong all-rounder if you want a luxury SUV that balances comfort, performance, and family use, and it earns 3.5/5 from owners and 7.8/10 from our experts.

The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Safety.

It is comfortable and refined, with strong engines, sharp handling, and lots of standard features, and it also brings space for the family and their gear. The trade-offs are clear: the infotainment system can be maddening and finnicky, the ride can feel firm, and the third row is small.

If you want a well-rounded three-row luxury SUV rather than one that dominates a single category, the MDX fits that brief well. With 37.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also a healthy share of attractive pricing in the market.

Is the 2024 Acura MDX reliable?

The 2024 Acura MDX comes across as a dependable luxury SUV with a strong safety record and a broad set of standard features.

Its expert assessment points to a well-rounded package that delivers comfort, refinement, and strong performance without feeling overly complicated mechanically. The standard powertrain is a 3.5-litre V6, and the Type S Ultra adds a twin-scroll turbocharged 3.0-litre V6, so you have proven engine choices rather than a complicated hybrid setup.

The MDX also benefits from a four-year, 80,000-kilometre limited warranty, which helps reduce early ownership risk. For used buyers, the main long-term concern is less about mechanical durability and more about whether the infotainment system and feature complexity will suit you over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Acura MDX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Tech trim gives you a long list of standard equipment, but the A-Spec adds sportier styling, ventilated front seats, and an upgraded audio system. Platinum Elite brings more ambient lighting, roof rails, and a surround-view camera plus head-up display starting at that grade, while Type S Ultra adds the most performance-focused and luxurious equipment.
• Powertrain: The standard model uses a 3.5-litre V6 with 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque, while the Type S Ultra upgrades to a twin-scroll turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 with 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. The standard MDX is rated at 12.6 L/100 km in city driving, 9.4 on the highway, and 11.2 combined; the Type S Ultra rises to 13.8 city, 11.2 highway, and 12.4 combined.
• Safety package: Acura’s standard driver-assistance suite includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-departure warning, lane keeping assist, driver attention monitoring, traffic-sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. A surround-view camera system and head-up display start with the Platinum Elite grade.
• Infotainment: The MDX uses a 12.3-inch display with a touchpad controller, and the system can be frustrating to use. On the plus side, it includes wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, satellite radio, HD radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, multiple USB ports, a fully digital instrument panel, and wireless device charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard MDX is rated at 12.6 L/100 km city, 9.4 highway, and 11.2 combined, while the Type S Ultra is rated at 13.8 city, 11.2 highway, and 12.4 combined.

Which 2024 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2024 Acura MDX is offered in 4 trim levels: Tech, A-Spec, Platinum Elite, Type S Ultra.

Here's the short version:

• Tech: This is the best-value starting point if you want the MDX’s core strengths without stretching to the pricier trims. You still get a long list of standard features, including leather upholstery, a panoramic moonroof, heated front seats, heated outboard rear seats, navigation, and the standard audio system.
• A-Spec: Choose this if you want a sportier look and a richer cabin feel. It adds unique styling touches, ventilated front seats, UltraSuede seat inserts, and an upgraded 16-speaker ELS audio system.
• Platinum Elite: This is the trim to target if you want more luxury and convenience features. It adds more ambient lighting, roof rails, open-pore wood inserts, a surround-view camera system, and a head-up display.
• Type S Ultra: Pick this if you want the most performance and the most upscale equipment. It adds the twin-scroll turbocharged V6, Brembo brakes, adaptive air suspension, massaging front seats, and the top-end 25-speaker ELS sound system.

The safety package is comprehensive across the lineup, while the surround-view camera and head-up display begin at Platinum Elite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Acura MDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, especially if you are willing to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 197 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.46% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $51,861 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $51,864 CAD sits slightly below last year's $60,632 CAD.

That drop suggests the MDX has become more attractive to used buyers, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar quickly. If you buy at today’s average or below, you are starting from a more favourable price point than last year’s market. For resale, the key will be how well the vehicle’s condition, trim, and equipment stack up against other listings when you decide to sell.

Is the 2024 Acura MDX safe?

The 2024 Acura MDX earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety suite is extensive, with automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-departure warning, lane keeping assist, driver attention monitoring, traffic-sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. A surround-view camera system and head-up display are included starting at Platinum Elite.

One caveat is that the infotainment touchpad can pull your attention away from the road more than a conventional touchscreen would.

Should I buy a 2024 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.46% compared with last year.
• It adds a new Type S Ultra trim with more performance.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $47,692 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $51,864 CAD average.
• It offers a stylish design and confident road manners.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $59,379 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $51,864 CAD average.
• It brings a more intuitive technology experience.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the best fit if you want the strongest mix of value, performance, and standard equipment. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2023 is the easier entry point, while the 2025 makes sense if you want the newer, simpler user experience.
