How much does the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid cost?

Prices have softened 8.63% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 429 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, impressive fuel economy, and spacious interior. The review summary also points to a practical, solid everyday feel, which lines up well with the RAV4 Hybrid’s role as an efficient compact SUV for daily use.

The main trade-offs are that the interior is not as refined as some rivals and cargo capacity is smaller than average. Even so, the overview frames it as a strong choice if you want efficiency and comfort without giving up easy day-to-day usability.

With 31.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a vehicle that feels practical, dependable, and easy to live with, with praise centred on its smooth ride and strong fuel economy. That kind of feedback usually matters most when you want a used SUV you can count on day after day.

The expert evaluation also describes the RAV4 Hybrid as calm and effortless to drive, with strong build quality and no detectable creaks or squeaks over rough pavement. The cost-effectiveness discussion adds that the hybrid premium can be recouped in less than two years under the stated driving assumptions, which supports the case for long-term ownership.

For used buyers, the main risk is less about outright dependability and more about whether the higher asking price still makes sense versus the non-hybrid RAV4 or other compact hybrid SUVs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model leaves out a leather-wrapped steering wheel and uses a urethane wheel and centre armrest, while higher trims add more upscale touches. The XLE with a package gets 18-inch alloy wheels, and higher grades build on that more polished look and feel.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid setup with an electric motor/generator and a second rear motor for all-wheel drive. It produces 219 horsepower and is tuned more for smooth, efficient everyday driving than for sporty acceleration.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard, with forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, and a traffic sign reader. In Canada, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard. The Limited adds front and rear parking proximity sensors with automatic braking when backing up and a surround-view camera system, while those features are available on the XSE.
• Infotainment: Most trims use an 8.0-inch touchscreen, while higher trims upgrade to a 10.5-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, the system supports over-the-air updates, and connectivity includes a Wi-Fi hotspot and remote monitoring and control.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates 5.8 L/100 km in the city, 6.3 L/100 km on the highway, and 6.0 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is offered in 5 trim levels: Hybrid LE AWD, Hybrid XLE AWD, Hybrid SE AWD, Hybrid XSE AWD, and Hybrid Limited AWD.

Here's the short version:

• Hybrid LE AWD: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core hybrid efficiency, standard all-wheel drive, and the full safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and care most about value and fuel savings.
• Hybrid XLE AWD: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds a more polished feel without moving too far up the price ladder. It is the trim to focus on if you want a better balance of equipment and cost.
• Hybrid SE AWD: This trim sits between the XLE and the sportier upper grades, so it suits you if you want a little more style and equipment without going all the way to the top.
• Hybrid XSE AWD: This is the better pick if you want the more premium tech and audio upgrades, including the larger touchscreen and the 11-speaker JBL system. It also gets the available parking and camera upgrades mentioned in the safety content.
• Hybrid Limited AWD: This is the most fully equipped version, with the most advanced convenience and safety hardware in the lineup. Choose it if you want the most complete RAV4 Hybrid experience and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but the Limited gets the most advanced parking and camera features, with some of that equipment also available on the XSE.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep bargain-bin pricing.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 429 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.63% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,980 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid's resale value?

The current average of $38,980 CAD sits slightly below last year's $42,663 CAD.

That softer pricing can be good news if you are buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices stay under pressure. A lower current average can narrow the gap between what you pay today and what you might recover later.

Even so, the RAV4 Hybrid’s strong fuel economy, standard all-wheel drive, and broad appeal should help it remain attractive to used shoppers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid safe?

The 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid earns five-star ratings for overall and side crash protection, and four-star ratings in frontal and rollover crash tests from NHTSA. The IIHS gave it a Top Safety Pick rating, with Good scores in all tests except moderate overlap frontal and side-impact tests, where it scored Acceptable.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard, and it includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, and a traffic sign reader. In Canada, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.

The main caveat is the IIHS’s second-best Acceptable result in the moderate overlap frontal and side-impact tests, which is worth keeping in mind if you are comparing it with rivals that post stronger results across the board.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.63% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 brings a new infotainment system and a Woodland Edition based on the XLE trim level.

The bottom line: The 2023 is a sensible pick if you want the updated infotainment, strong owner satisfaction, and a market that has eased a bit from last year. If you are especially price-sensitive, it is worth comparing nearby model years and cross-shopping other compact hybrid SUVs before you commit.
