How much does the 2023 Nissan Frontier cost?

Prices have softened 1.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 139 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Nissan Frontier a good car?

Yes — with a 4.94/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating, the 2023 Nissan Frontier lands strongly with both owners and our test team. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Drivers consistently praise its powerful performance, comfortable interior, and modern features, and many say it offers strong value compared with rivals. The Frontier also stands out for its practical everyday appeal and straightforward character, which makes it easy to live with if you want a midsize pickup without a lot of fuss.

The trade-offs are clear: the transmission is sluggish, and fuel economy is poor. Even so, the Frontier’s value-focused positioning and useful feature set make it a sensible fit if you want a capable midsize truck with staying power rather than constant reinvention.

Only 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is somewhat selective rather than flooded with bargains.

Is the 2023 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 4.94/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, trouble-free, and easy to count on, with owners especially appreciating its strong performance and comfortable cabin. The Frontier’s straightforward setup and long-term appeal also support the sense that it is built for steady ownership rather than constant surprises.

The expert drive notes reinforce that impression by highlighting a familiar, proven powertrain and a truck that Nissan expects to keep around for a long time. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a truck with a few known compromises can still become costly if those weaknesses matter to your driving routine.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Frontier?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from S to SV Convenience, SV, Pro-4X, Midnight Edition, and SV Premium. The base S misses some comfort and convenience equipment that becomes available higher up, while the Pro-4X adds unique styling touches and more premium hardware.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 3.8-litre V6 with 310 hp and 281 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic. The truck is standard 4WD in Canada, and the powertrain is tuned more for capability than fuel savings.
• Safety package: Standard driver assistance includes forward-collision warning, trailer sway control, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a driver-attention monitor, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and rear-door alert. Traffic-sign recognition is standard on Pro-4X.
• Infotainment: Most trims use an 8-inch touchscreen, while Pro-4X gets a 9-inch system. Wireless Apple CarPlay is standard on Pro-4X, while S and SV trims still require a wired connection for smartphone integration.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates most versions at 12.8 L/100 km city, 10.2 highway, and 11.6 combined. The Pro-4X is rated at 13.3 L/100 km city, 10.5 highway, and 12.0 combined.

Which 2023 Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Frontier is offered in 6 trim levels: S, SV Convenience, SV, Pro-4X, Midnight Edition, and SV Premium.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, but you give up some of the nicer comfort and tech touches found higher in the range. It makes sense if you want the Frontier’s core capability at the lowest starting point.
• SV Convenience: This is the best-value trim if you want a more rounded daily driver, since it adds useful equipment without jumping all the way to the more expensive versions.
• SV: Choose this if you want a balanced middle ground and do not need the extra styling or off-road focus of the upper trims.
• Midnight Edition: This is the style pick, with blacked-out exterior and interior details that give the truck a darker look without changing its core mechanical character.
• SV Premium: This is the comfort-leaning choice, especially if you want the available Fender premium audio system and a more upscale feel.
• Pro-4X: This is the most capable and best-equipped choice if you want the strongest off-road focus, the larger 9-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay, and the most distinctive trim-specific details.

The Pro-4X also gets the most advanced safety and tech presentation in the lineup, including traffic-sign recognition and the larger infotainment setup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Frontier?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 139 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.69% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $42,245 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Frontier's resale value?

The current average of $42,319 CAD sits slightly below last year's $43,047 CAD.

That softer pricing trend suggests the Frontier is holding value reasonably well, but not aggressively appreciating. For a future seller, that means you should expect resale to depend more on condition, trim, and mileage than on broad market momentum alone.

The current market also shows that buyers are still willing to pay for the Frontier’s mix of capability and everyday usability, which helps support demand. If you keep the truck well maintained and present it cleanly, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.94/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Nissan Frontier safe?

The 2023 Nissan Frontier earns a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star side-crash results, four-star frontal-crash results, and three-star rollover results.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment across the Canadian lineup includes forward-collision warning, trailer sway control, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a driver-attention monitor, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and rear-door alert. Traffic-sign recognition is standard on Pro-4X.

The main caveat is the lower rollover result, which keeps the overall NHTSA score from reaching five stars.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.94/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 adds more standard features while keeping the Frontier’s simple, familiar character.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $38,679 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $42,319 CAD average.
• The 2022 brings a redesigned truck with a more modern feel and real off-road capability.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped and more current used Frontier, the 2023 is the stronger all-around pick. If your priority is saving money and you still want the redesigned-generation truck, the 2022 is the value alternative worth a close look.
