Is the 2023 Kia Telluride a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Kia Telluride earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 9/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the comfort, technology, and upscale feel, and many say it feels more luxurious than its price suggests. The Telluride also stands out for its smooth ride and extensive feature content, which makes it especially appealing if you want a family-friendly three-row SUV that feels well equipped.

The main trade-offs are some interior materials that feel cheap and a few usability quirks, including manual third-row seating and a steering wheel that some owners would improve. Even so, the 2023 model year remains a strong fit if you want a stylish, comfortable, and well-rounded SUV for family use.

With 31.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value in the market.

Is the 2023 Kia Telluride reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with repeated praise for comfort, technology, and the sense that the vehicle feels upscale and easy to live with. The expert drive also reinforces that impression by describing the Telluride as a strong all-around package with broad appeal and a well-sorted driving experience.

Kia’s standard maintenance coverage can also help reduce early ownership costs when you’re shopping used. For a used buyer, the main long-term risk is less about core dependability and more about finding one that has been cared for properly and not overused.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Kia Telluride?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The EX, SX, SX Limited, X-Line, and X-Pro each bring different equipment and appearance details, and the SX trim is the point where more advanced driver-assistance features begin to appear. If you want the best value, the X-Line and X-Pro add more distinctive styling and capability-focused hardware, while the SX trim is the key step up for safety tech.
• Powertrain: You’re looking at a 3.8-litre V6 with 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and AWD. The Telluride also offers Eco, Comfort, Smart, Sport, and Snow driving modes, plus a low-speed Lock setting for the AWD system.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, junction turning assist, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, Highway Drive Assist 1.5, automatic high beams, driver attention warning, and Rear Occupant Alert. Advanced Highway Drive Assist with Lane Change Assist is standard starting with SX trim.
• Infotainment: Every model gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, navigation, Kia Connect services, OTA updates, and wireless phone charging. The system does not accept climate-control voice commands, so that’s worth checking if you care about voice convenience.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test drive recorded 9.8 L/100 km in one X-Line drive and 11.5 L/100 km in an X-Pro drive, while official combined fuel consumption is 11.4 L/100 km.

Which 2023 Kia Telluride trim should I buy?

The 2023 Kia Telluride is offered in 5 trim levels: EX, SX, SX Limited, X-Line, and X-Pro.

Here's the short version:

• EX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Telluride experience with standard AWD and the full family-sized SUV formula. It makes sense if you want the Telluride’s style and space without chasing the more advanced equipment.
• SX: This is the best-value trim if you want the strongest mix of features and safety tech, because it adds the advanced Highway Drive Assist setup and more collision-avoidance features. It’s the trim to target if you want a more complete Telluride without going all the way to the top.
• SX Limited: This is the more upscale choice if you want the richer-feeling version of the Telluride lineup. It suits you if you care most about a more premium overall experience.
• X-Line: This is the better pick if you want the more rugged look and the raised suspension, along with the unique grille, roof rails, black wheels, and all-terrain attitude. It’s the style-and-capability trim for buyers who want a more adventurous appearance.
• X-Pro: This is the most off-road-focused version, with 18-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, improved cooling, and higher towing capacity. Choose it if you want the most capability-oriented Telluride.

Advanced Highway Drive Assist is standard starting with SX trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Kia Telluride?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 234 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.85% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $40,839 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Kia Telluride's resale value?

The current average of $40,839 CAD sits slightly below last year's $48,534 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if prices stay near current levels. If you’re planning to keep the vehicle for several years, the Telluride’s strong reputation and broad appeal should help support demand. Still, the recent decline suggests you should be realistic about future depreciation if you buy at today’s average.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Kia Telluride safe?

The 2023 Telluride earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia equips every Telluride with a long list of standard driver-assistance features, including forward-collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, junction turning assist, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, Highway Drive Assist 1.5, automatic high beams, driver attention warning, Safe Exit Assist, and Rear Occupant Alert.

Advanced Highway Drive Assist adds Lane Change Assist and becomes standard starting with SX trim. Higher trims also gain additional collision-avoidance features, front parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking while parking, a surround-view camera with a forward view, and a Blind-Spot View Monitor.

Should I buy a 2023 Kia Telluride or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds minor styling updates, new technology, and X-Line/X-Pro trims with more off-road attitude.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $46,351 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $40,839 CAD average.
• It keeps the same strong formula while adding only minor detail changes.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2023 is the smarter buy because it delivers the core Telluride strengths at a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2024 is the cleaner follow-up, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2023.
