Is the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It stands out as a roomy, value-focused midsize sedan with a comfortable cabin, easy-to-use features, and a long-running reputation for being cheaper than many rivals. For you, that means it makes the most sense if you want a practical family sedan with straightforward technology and generous space rather than a more polished driving experience. There are 27.8% of listings priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Malibu is described as having the strongest reliability record among front-wheel-drive Malibu generations, and it was known for generating far fewer owner complaints than earlier versions. That makes it a reassuring choice if you want a used sedan with a history of dependable ownership and fewer obvious red flags. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about reliability and more about making sure the car’s condition and maintenance history match its otherwise strong reputation.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 266 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.85% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $21,005 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $21,005 CAD sits slightly below last year's $24,101 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has softened in the used market, which can make it easier for you to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, that means pricing competitively will matter, especially if the market continues to favour value-oriented midsize sedans. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2023 Malibu makes the most sense if you want a roomy, value-focused midsize sedan with strong owner satisfaction and a softer used price than last year. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the 2023’s current market position.
