Is the 2023 BMW X3 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 BMW X3 earns a user rating of 5/5, which points to strong overall appeal for shoppers who want a compact luxury SUV with a sporty feel. It blends practicality with BMW’s driving dynamics, so you get a high seating position and easy access without giving up engaging road manners. It also stands out as a more affordable alternative to the larger X5, which broadens its appeal if you want premium features in a smaller package.

With 31.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 BMW X3 is described as generally reliable, but you should still check electronics systems and confirm that any used example has a full maintenance history. You should also watch for oil leaks or cooling system issues, since those can raise ownership risk over time.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW X3?

This looks like a moderate buyer’s market, so you can afford to be selective without waiting forever for the perfect deal.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 373 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.64% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $40,818 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $40,825 CAD sits slightly below last year's $43,729 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays competitive. For a seller, the current trend suggests you should expect value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance records. Well-kept examples should still attract interest because the X3 has broad appeal in the compact luxury SUV segment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $34,448 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $40,825 CAD average.
• It offers a refreshed take on the X3 with updated design, more technology, and expanded safety features.

The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the current-year pricing context and a strong satisfaction signal in a compact luxury SUV. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2022 is the better value path and still gives you a refreshed, well-equipped X3 experience.
