How much does the 2023 BMW X1 cost?

Prices have softened 13.47% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 259 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2023 BMW X1 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 BMW X1 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.

It stands out as a small luxury crossover that blends a zippy, fun driving character with added capability and plenty of cargo space. That makes it a strong fit if you want something that feels more engaging than many rivals while still covering everyday utility.

The main trade-offs are that some advanced safety features are not standard, and the features many shoppers are likely to want can push the price up significantly.

With 34.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 BMW X1 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 BMW X1 is presented as an all-new, third-generation model with standard all-wheel drive and premium interior materials, which supports its upscale and practical character. Its powertrain is described as stronger than before, and the updated drivetrain and suspension tuning are aimed at better comfort and stability.

The performance notes also point to a more capable and refined package, with the new engine, revised transmission, and improved damping all working in your favour. BMW also recommends premium fuel, which is worth factoring into ownership costs.

For a used buyer, the main long-term risk is that the features you may want can raise the purchase price and complexity, so it pays to verify the equipment level and condition carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW X1?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The xDrive28i is the only trim level listed, and it already brings standard all-wheel drive, premium interior materials, and a fun-to-drive character. It is the clear choice because there is no lower trim to step down to.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder with 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, plus a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It is quick, with a zero-to-100 km/h time of 6.4 seconds, and it can tow up to 1,587 kilograms.
• Safety package: Active blind-spot monitoring is standard, and it includes exit warning. Standard front-collision warning also includes pedestrian and cyclist detection with brake intervention. Driving Assistant Professional adds speed limit assist, extended traffic-jam assistant, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control with stop & go.
• Infotainment: The BMW Curved Display combines a 10.7-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch driver display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and BMW maps plus Bluetooth come with Live Cockpit Plus. Digital Cockpit Professional adds a full-colour head-up display and augmented reality navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates it at 9.6 L/100 km in the city, 7.0 L/100 km on the highway, and 8.4 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 BMW X1 trim should I buy?

The 2023 BMW X1 is offered in 1 trim level: xDrive28i.

Here's the short version:

The xDrive28i is the one to buy because it is the only trim listed and already gives you the core X1 formula: standard all-wheel drive, strong performance, premium materials, and a well-equipped cabin. If you want the best value, start here and then decide whether the optional packages are worth the extra cost for your needs.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that active blind-spot monitoring is standard, while Driving Assistant Professional and the 360-degree surround-view camera system are optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW X1?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 259 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.47% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,722 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW X1's resale value?

The current average of $34,722 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,129 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar right away. If you buy at the right price now, you may have less downside exposure than someone who bought when prices were higher.

The X1’s strong mix of utility, premium feel, and driving appeal should help it stay attractive to shoppers looking for a compact luxury crossover. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 BMW X1 safe?

The 2023 BMW X1 earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW’s Driving Assistant Professional suite is newly available, and it includes speed limit assist, extended traffic-jam assistant, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control with stop & go. Standard safety equipment includes active blind-spot monitoring with exit warning, plus front-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection and brake intervention.

A 360-degree surround-view camera system is available as part of the Premium Enhanced Package, and Active Park Distance Control, Back-Up Assistant, and Parking Assistant Plus are also available. The main caveat is that some advanced safety features are not standard.

Should I buy a 2023 BMW X1 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.47% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The all-new, third-generation X1 brings more capability and plenty of cargo space while keeping the zippy, fun driving character.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, utility, and driving enjoyment in this model year, the 2023 X1 is the one to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, keep watching the market for a listing near the low end of the range, because the softened pricing gives you a better chance to buy well.
