Is the 2023 Acura RDX a good car?

The 2023 Acura RDX is a mixed but appealing choice if you want a luxury SUV that feels upscale without pushing into the priciest part of the segment. It earns a user rating of 3/5 and an expert rating of 6.17/10.

The model scores 7/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

It stands out for its strong performance, high levels of comfort, and relatively affordable price, and it is described as fun to drive and comfortable. The main trade-off is the infotainment system, which is unintuitive and takes time to learn.

With 31.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Acura RDX reliable?

The 2023 Acura RDX is presented as a well-rounded luxury SUV with strong performance and comfort, and its expert evaluation supports that broad appeal. Its powertrain is described as more than adequate for most drivers, with immediate throttle response and a transmission that does an excellent job of selecting the right gear.

The performance notes also point to confident handling, well-managed body roll, and a ride that smooths out road imperfections with ease. The cost-effectiveness notes add that there is no alternative engine choice, so you are not giving up a more efficient or more powerful version within the range.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the infotainment system may remain frustrating even after you get used to it.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Acura RDX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin uses a vertical layout with a 10.2-inch infotainment display, physical climate controls, and a digital centre display with analog gauges on either side. The base setup is not as modern-looking as some rivals, so you should check whether the features you want are present before stepping up to a higher trim.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is not offered in Canada, and all-wheel drive is standard.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, rain-sensing wipers, and front and rear parking sensors. The Platinum Elite A-Spec package adds a surround-view camera system and a head-up display.
• Infotainment: The 10.2-inch display uses a touchpad controller rather than a touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto help make it easier to use, and Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, remote monitoring and control via the Acuralink smartphone app, and a 16-speaker ELS Studio premium audio system are standard in Canada.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel consumption at 11.3 L/100 km in the city, 9.1 L/100 km on the highway, and 10.3 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 Acura RDX trim should I buy?

The 2023 Acura RDX is offered in 2 trim levels: RDX A-Spec and Platinum Elite A-Spec.

Here's the short version:

• RDX A-Spec: This is the entry point, and it already gives you the core RDX formula of standard AWD, the turbocharged 2.0-litre engine, and the model’s strong comfort-and-performance balance. It is the best-value choice if you want the RDX experience without paying for extras you may not need.
• Platinum Elite A-Spec: This is the better pick if you want the most equipment and the most upscale feel, including the surround-view camera system, head-up display, and adaptive dampers. It suits you best if you want the most complete version of the RDX and are willing to pay more for it.

The Platinum Elite A-Spec package also adds the surround-view camera system and head-up display.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Acura RDX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right one.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 204 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.00% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,865 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Acura RDX's resale value?

The current average of $41,865 CAD sits slightly below last year's $46,007 CAD.

That decline suggests the RDX has become more attractive to used buyers than it was a year ago. If you are planning to sell later, you should expect pricing pressure to remain a factor unless market conditions improve. For now, the softer trend favours buyers more than sellers.

Is the 2023 Acura RDX safe?

The 2023 Acura RDX earns five-star ratings for overall and side crash protection, and four-star ratings for frontal and rollover protection from NHTSA. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave it its highest score of good across the board and named it a Top Safety Pick+.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, rain-sensing wipers, and front and rear parking sensors. The Platinum Elite A-Spec package adds a surround-view camera system and a head-up display.

The lane-keep assist can tug against your hands in gentle curves, so it is better suited to long, straight highway drives.

Is the 2023 Acura RDX reliable?

The 2023 Acura RDX may not be the newest luxury SUV, but it can still compete against newer rivals thanks to its strong performance, high levels of comfort, and relatively affordable price.

Should I buy a 2023 Acura RDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.00% compared with last year.
• It offers strong performance, high comfort, and a relatively affordable price.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $37,725 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $41,865 CAD average.
• It brings standard all-wheel drive, a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and five trim levels.

The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the stronger overall value story and are comfortable paying a bit more for the current-year market. Consider the 2022 if your priority is saving money up front and you still want the RDX’s core strengths.
