How much does the 2021 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 20.29% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 543 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Ford Explorer earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its balance of performance, comfort, and luxury features, along with the spacious interior and high-tech equipment. It also fits well if you want a midsize SUV with a more engaging driving feel and family-friendly versatility. With 31.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise for a trouble-free mix of comfort, performance, and useful technology. That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and how the vehicle has aged, since long-term ownership risk is always tied to prior care and usage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Ford Explorer?

It looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can afford to compare listings carefully before committing.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 543 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.29% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $29,221 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $29,283 CAD sits slightly below last year's $36,739 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Explorer easier to buy now but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you purchase at a competitive price, you may reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. Strong demand can still support resale, especially when the vehicle has broad appeal and a good reputation with owners.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.29% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $26,782 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $29,283 CAD average.
• It offers a roomy cabin with a modern, performance-oriented feel.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $35,758 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $29,283 CAD average.
• It adds more trim choice and a broader family-focused package.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the best all-around pick if you want strong owner satisfaction, a lower average price than the 2022, and a market with decent deal availability. If your priority is saving money first, the 2020 is the better value path; if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling alternative, the 2022 is the natural step up.
