How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe cost?

Prices have softened 16.55% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 62 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe earns a 4.78/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, modern design, advanced technology, comfortable ride, and reliability. That lines up with the Tahoe’s role as a full-size SUV for buyers who need three-row space, strong utility, and a more polished overall package than before.

The model also stands out because Chevrolet redesigned it to address key shortcomings in interior comfort and cargo space while improving driving dynamics and technology. Good and great deals make up 41.9% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, and it also describes the Tahoe as dependable and comfortable to live with over time. The expert review reinforces that impression by describing the drivetrain as refined and effortlessly capable, with the 5.3-litre V8 and 10-speed automatic proving well matched for everyday use.

Chevrolet also adds Dynamic Fuel Management to help the engine operate more efficiently, and the available diesel promises a meaningful efficiency improvement. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a large, complex SUV can become expensive to run if you need frequent repairs or higher operating costs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Tahoe LS includes cloth seats, while Tahoe LT adds leather. The sporty RST, rugged Z71, upscale Premier, and luxurious High Country each bring distinct styling and equipment, and the base model is the one most likely to feel light on features compared with the higher trims.
• Powertrain: You can get a 5.3-litre V8, a 6.2-litre V8 on High Country, or a turbocharged 3.0-litre diesel on most trims except Z71. The diesel is the efficiency play, while the V8s deliver the traditional Tahoe character and towing strength.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes Teen Driver, a rear-seat reminder system, forward collision alert with pedestrian detection, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. Higher trims or options can add lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, rear pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, and an upgraded blind-spot system with trailer coverage.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is a 10.2-inch touchscreen with over-the-air update capability, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, voice recognition, and Chevrolet Connected Services. Navigation, Bose audio, and a rear-seat media system are available upgrades.
• Fuel efficiency: The official Natural Resources Canada estimate for a Tahoe 4WD is 13.5 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, and the diesel is said to improve combined fuel use by roughly 3.5 litres per 100 kilometres.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Tahoe experience with cloth seats and the standard safety and infotainment equipment. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price, but it is also the trim most likely to leave you wanting more comfort and convenience features.
• LT: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds leather and keeps the Tahoe’s main strengths intact without pushing you into the pricier upper trims. If you want a more upscale cabin without going overboard, this is the one to focus on.
• RST: Choose this if you want the sportier look, with a slotted grille, blacked-out appearance, and 22-inch wheels. It is more about style than added utility.
• Z71: This is the rugged choice, with a redesigned front end, red tow hooks, a skid plate, all-terrain tires, and off-road-oriented hardware. It suits you if you want the Tahoe’s capability with a more adventurous setup.
• Premier: This trim adds perforated leather, more chrome, and a more upscale feel, and it also unlocks features such as adaptive cruise control and the upgraded blind-spot system with trailer coverage. It is the step up to take if comfort and safety tech matter most.
• High Country: This is the luxury and power pick, with the 6.2-litre V8, unique leather, and the most premium exterior treatment. It is the right choice if you want the most powerful and most upscale Tahoe.

For safety-package shoppers, the higher trims are where you gain the most advanced driver-assistance features, especially Premier and High Country.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

It looks like a buyer’s market for you right now.

• Deal availability: 41.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 62 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.55% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $50,270 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe's resale value?

The current average of $50,270 CAD sits slightly below last year's $60,242 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who paid closer to last year’s average. The Tahoe’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe safe?

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes Teen Driver, a rear-seat reminder system, forward collision alert with pedestrian detection, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. You can also equip it with lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, rear pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, and a Safety Alert Seat, with some of the more advanced features reserved for Premier and High Country trims.

The available surround-view camera is especially useful in a vehicle this large, because it helps you manoeuvre in tight spaces. One caveat is that crash testing had not yet been completed when the review was published.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 41.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.55% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 Tahoe is the redesigned version, and the expert review highlights major gains in interior comfort, cargo space, driving dynamics, technology, and innovation.

The bottom line: If you want the most complete Tahoe in this generation, the 2021 is the one to target because it brings the redesign and the biggest improvements in everyday usability. If your priority is simply the lowest purchase price, a nearby older year may cost less, but you give up the major upgrades that make this model year stand out.
