How much does the 2020 Honda HR-V cost?

Prices have softened 10.20% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 134 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of choice in the used market.

Is the 2020 Honda HR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Honda HR-V earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its value, quality, and spaciousness for a smaller SUV, and many also like its excellent fuel economy and available AWD. For you, that makes it a practical fit if you want an affordable everyday crossover with a useful interior and easy manoeuvrability. With 29.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Honda HR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights reliability-adjacent strengths such as value, quality, and the confidence that comes with Honda’s reputation. That said, some owners mention comfort and feature-content concerns, so you should still check the condition of the seats, infotainment, and cabin usability on any used example.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright dependability and more about finding a well-kept example that still feels comfortable and up to date.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Honda HR-V?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 134 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.20% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $21,673 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Honda HR-V's resale value?

The current average of $21,715 CAD sits slightly below last year's $24,181 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the HR-V easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If you purchase at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned to preserve value than someone who pays near the top of the range. The model’s practical cabin and broad appeal should help support demand, especially among shoppers who prioritise usefulness over performance.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Honda HR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a practical, value-focused subcompact SUV with strong owner approval, the 2020 HR-V is the sensible choice to target. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, you may also want to compare nearby model years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of price, condition, and equipment.
