CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Ford F-150
overall

Summary
With 238 currently listed for sale and an average price of $27,936 CAD, 28.2% of 2020 Ford F-150 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Ford F-150 4.72 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.33 / 10.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Ford F-150 stands out as a full-size pickup that tries to cover a lot of ground at once. It is described as having outstanding tech and comfort features while still keeping the power needed to get the job done. That mix makes it appealing to buyers who want a truck that can serve as a commuter, a family vehicle, and a workhorse without feeling out of place in any of those roles.
Its strengths are centred on an accommodating and modern interior, comfortable road manners, and a lineup of engines that provide the power and torque to help it hold its own at the worksite. It is also noted for stylish design, multiple powertrain options, and a spacious cabin. At the same time, the 2020 Ford F-150 is not perfect: advanced safety features are not standard, and the interior materials are said to feel cheap. Owners also praise its power, smooth ride, and interior comfort, while some point to missing conveniences such as extra USB ports and power seats.

Reviewed a 2020 Ford F-150 on Oct 22, 2025
The 2020 Raptor gets almost everything right — performance, comfort, design, and capability. It’s not just a truck; it’s an experience. Every time I drive it, it reminds me why this model has such a loyal following. ⸻ What I Think of Its Features The twin-turbo 3.5 L EcoBoost engine delivers incredible power and torque, and the 10-speed transmission keeps it smooth whether you’re cruising the highway or tearing up dirt roads. The suspension is what truly sets it apart — it absorbs rough terrain like it’s nothing, but somehow still rides comfortably on pavement. Inside, it’s spacious, refined, and well-equipped. The technology and controls are intuitive, and even though it’s built for off-road performance, it doesn’t sacrifice daily comfort. It feels just as confident on a long trip as it does on a back trail. ⸻ Is It a Good Value? Yes — for the right driver. You’re paying for both capability and character. If you’ll actually use what it was built for — adventure, off-road travel, or simply having the most capable full-size truck on the road — then it’s worth every dollar. Of course, if you’re buying it just for city commuting, the value depends on how much you want the performance and presence. Fuel economy and tire wear are part of the trade-off, but the Raptor delivers something few trucks can: it makes driving fun again. ⸻ What It’s Missing No vehicle is perfect. The Raptor’s towing capacity isn’t as high as some other F-150 models, and it’s definitely a large truck to maneuver in tight parking lots. It also drinks more fuel than your average pickup, and parts like the suspension or tires cost more to replace. But for me, those drawbacks are minor compared to what it offers in power, confidence, and enjoyment. ⸻ What I’d Compare It To If you want to compare, the Ram 1500 TRX is the closest rival — louder, heavier, and a bit wilder. The Raptor, though, strikes a better balance between power and everyday drivability. I’d also compare it to the Chevy Silverado Trail Boss or GMC AT4 for someone who wants off-road ability without going full performance truck. ⸻ Overall The 2020 Raptor is one of those rare trucks that feels alive. It’s strong, capable, and surprisingly refined. Whether you’re driving across the country or exploring back roads, it’s a truck that makes you want to keep going. That’s why I gave it a perfect 5-star rating.

The picture is deceiving. It’s actually missing driver side running board. And the inside was very dirty. Back head rest was also missing.

Is the 2020 Ford F-150 a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Ford F-150 earns a 4.72/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.
Owners consistently praise its power, smooth ride, and interior comfort, and they also value the engine performance, especially from the 3.5L EcoBoost and 5.0L V8 options. The truck’s broad appeal comes through clearly in its ability to work as a commuter, family vehicle, and workhorse.
The main trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard and the interior materials can feel cheap. Even so, the F-150’s mix of capability, comfort, and versatility makes it a strong fit if you want one truck to cover a lot of roles.
With 28.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s a decent amount of market flexibility for buyers who shop carefully.
Is the 2020 Ford F-150 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.72/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centred on power, smooth ride quality, and interior comfort. That kind of feedback suggests you can count on it for regular commuting and heavier-duty tasks alike.
The truck’s performance also supports that impression, with a lineup built around engines that deliver the power and torque needed for towing and hauling. Ford’s first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that feature content and cabin quality can vary a lot by trim, so condition and equipment matter.

- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 can include automatic high beams, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. Pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking is standard, including on the XL, while a reverse sensing system is available on the base XL.
- Infotainment: The XL can be had with a basic system, while the XLT adds SYNC 3 with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, enhanced voice recognition, pinch-to-zoom map functionality, and smart-charging USB ports. FordPass with a 4G Wi-Fi modem is also available on XLT-and-up trims.

Which 2020 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?
The 2020 Ford F-150 is offered in 7 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor, and Limited.
Here's the short version:
- XL: This is the most affordable path into the F-150, but it is also the most basic. You get the essentials, plus standard forward automatic emergency braking, so it suits you if you want a no-frills work truck.
- XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds SYNC 3, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a WiFi hotspot, and more exterior polish without jumping too far up the price ladder.
- Lariat: This is the sweet spot if you want a noticeable step up in comfort. Leather-trimmed seats, dual-zone climate control, blind spot monitoring, and heated and cooled front seats make it the most balanced choice for many buyers.
- King Ranch: Choose this if you want a more distinctive cabin and stronger luxury feel, with saddle-leather upholstery, premium audio, heated rear seats, and a remote release tailgate.
- Platinum: This trim leans into upscale convenience, especially with its massaging seats, LED bed lighting, and more premium exterior detailing.
- Raptor: This is the off-road specialist, with a wider body, lifted suspension, Fox Racing Shox, and terrain-focused hardware and drive modes.
- Limited: This is the most comfort-focused version, with premium leather upholstery, a dual-panel moonroof, and upscale exterior touches.
Advanced safety features are not standard on every trim, so check carefully for the driver-assistance equipment you want.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford F-150?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it rewards comparison shopping rather than impulse buying.
- Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,133 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.30% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $30,692 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Ford F-150's resale value?
The current average of $31,673 CAD sits slightly below last year's $34,920 CAD.
That softer pricing can help you buy more truck for the money today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment. If prices stay near this level, depreciation pressure could remain noticeable for a while.
Even so, the F-150’s broad appeal helps support demand. Trucks with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.72/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Ford F-150 safe?
The 2020 Ford F-150 SuperCrew trucks received top marks from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and earn five-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the SuperCrew configuration, while the SuperCab and regular cab managed four-star ratings.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford Co-Pilot360 can include automatic high beams, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. Pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking is standard, including on the XL, and a reverse sensing system is available on the base XL.
The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard across the range, so you should verify the exact equipment on any used example you’re considering.
Should I buy a 2020 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.30% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.72/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It balances commuter comfort, work-ready capability, and broad trim choice.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $37,102 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $31,673 CAD average.
- It adds a revamped interior and the new Sync 4 infotainment system.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the smarter buy because prices are softer and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for newer tech and a refreshed cabin, the 2021 is the better upgrade path.
