Yes — the 2020 Ford F-150 earns a 4.72/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.

Owners consistently praise its power, smooth ride, and interior comfort, and many also like the engine performance from the 3.5L EcoBoost and 5.0L V8 options. The truck’s broad usefulness also stands out: it is built to work as a commuter, family hauler, road-trip vehicle, and work truck. The main trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard and the interior materials can feel cheap.

With that mix of strengths and compromises, it makes the most sense if you want a versatile full-size pickup that balances capability with everyday comfort. Good and great deals account for 28.6% of listings, so there is still some room to shop selectively.

Owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, trouble-free, and easy to count on, especially when paired with its strong powertrain reputation. The expert assessment also highlights an accommodating, modern interior and comfortable road manners, which supports the sense that it is built for regular use rather than occasional duty. The truck’s broad engine lineup and work-ready character further reinforce its long-term ownership appeal.

For used buyers, the main risk is less about outright reliability and more about choosing the right trim and condition, since equipment levels and cabin quality vary quite a bit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford F-150?

Key things to evaluate:

Which 2020 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2020 Ford F-150 is offered in 7 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the most affordable route into the F-150, and it makes sense if you want a straightforward work truck with standard forward automatic emergency braking. It is the trim to choose if you care more about utility than comfort or tech.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds SYNC 3, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, cruise control, chrome exterior details, and a WiFi hotspot. If you want the best balance of price, equipment, and everyday usability, start here.
• Lariat: This is the right step up if you want a more comfortable truck, with leather-trimmed seats, heated and cooled front seats, blind spot monitoring, dual-zone climate control, and a richer cabin. It bridges the gap between work-focused and luxury-oriented trims.
• King Ranch: Choose this if you want a distinctive Western-themed cabin, a premium audio system, heated rear seats, and a more upscale feel without going all the way to the top. It suits buyers who want personality and comfort together.
• Platinum: This trim leans into luxury with massaging front seats, ambient lighting, power outlets, LED bed lighting, and more polished exterior details. It is a strong pick if comfort matters as much as capability.
• Raptor: This is the off-road specialist, with a wider body, lifted suspension, Fox Racing Shox, skid plates, and terrain-focused drive modes. Buy it if you want the most rugged and specialised version of the F-150.
• Limited: This is the most luxurious version, with premium leather upholstery, a dual-panel moonroof, 22-inch polished aluminium wheels, and upscale exterior trim. It is best if you want the most premium F-150 experience.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is available or standard on higher trims, while the XL gets only the basics beyond standard forward automatic emergency braking.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,146 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.40% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $30,642 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $31,588 CAD sits slightly below last year's $34,112 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can make it harder for a future seller to command a premium unless the truck is especially well equipped or in excellent condition. The year-round high of $34,112 CAD shows there is still room for stronger examples to hold value better than average. If you buy carefully now, you may be able to benefit from the current dip before the market tightens again.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.72/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

The 2020 Ford F-150 earns top marks from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in its various crash tests, and the SuperCrew version received five-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes automatic high beams, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. Forward automatic emergency braking is standard, including on the XL, while a reverse sensing system is available on the base trim. The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup.

Should I buy a 2020 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.72/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It offers broad powertrain choice, strong towing ability, and a comfortable, modern cabin.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $36,766 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $31,588 CAD average.
• It adds a redesigned interior with more convenience features and Sync 4.

The bottom line: Choose the 2020 if you want a capable, well-liked full-size pickup at a lower price. Consider the 2021 if you are willing to pay more for the newer redesign and added technology; otherwise, the 2020 remains the smarter value play for price-sensitive buyers.
