CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Ford F-150
overall

Summary
With 191 currently listed for sale and an average price of $28,666 CAD, 26.7% of 2020 Ford F-150 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Ford F-150 4.72 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.33 / 10.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Ford F-150 stands out as a full-size pickup that tries to cover a lot of ground at once. It is described as having outstanding tech and comfort features while still keeping the power needed to get the job done. That broad capability is part of its appeal: it is meant to serve as a commuter, a family hauler, a road-trip vehicle, and a work truck without losing sight of towing and hauling duties.
Inside, the 2020 Ford F-150 is presented as accommodating and modern, with comfortable road manners that should make it easier to live with day to day. Its lineup of engines gives it the power and torque to hold its own at the worksite, and the available powertrain variety is one of its clear strengths. The truck is also noted for its spaciousness and stylish design, which help it feel more polished than a purely utilitarian pickup.
There are a few trade-offs to keep in mind. Advanced safety features are not standard, and the interior materials are described as feeling cheap. Even so, the 2020 Ford F-150 remains appealing for buyers who want a capable, versatile truck with strong performance, a comfortable ride, and a cabin that is more practical and modern than basic work-truck expectations might suggest.

Reviewed a 2020 Ford F-150 on Oct 22, 2025
The 2020 Raptor gets almost everything right — performance, comfort, design, and capability. It’s not just a truck; it’s an experience. Every time I drive it, it reminds me why this model has such a loyal following. ⸻ What I Think of Its Features The twin-turbo 3.5 L EcoBoost engine delivers incredible power and torque, and the 10-speed transmission keeps it smooth whether you’re cruising the highway or tearing up dirt roads. The suspension is what truly sets it apart — it absorbs rough terrain like it’s nothing, but somehow still rides comfortably on pavement. Inside, it’s spacious, refined, and well-equipped. The technology and controls are intuitive, and even though it’s built for off-road performance, it doesn’t sacrifice daily comfort. It feels just as confident on a long trip as it does on a back trail. ⸻ Is It a Good Value? Yes — for the right driver. You’re paying for both capability and character. If you’ll actually use what it was built for — adventure, off-road travel, or simply having the most capable full-size truck on the road — then it’s worth every dollar. Of course, if you’re buying it just for city commuting, the value depends on how much you want the performance and presence. Fuel economy and tire wear are part of the trade-off, but the Raptor delivers something few trucks can: it makes driving fun again. ⸻ What It’s Missing No vehicle is perfect. The Raptor’s towing capacity isn’t as high as some other F-150 models, and it’s definitely a large truck to maneuver in tight parking lots. It also drinks more fuel than your average pickup, and parts like the suspension or tires cost more to replace. But for me, those drawbacks are minor compared to what it offers in power, confidence, and enjoyment. ⸻ What I’d Compare It To If you want to compare, the Ram 1500 TRX is the closest rival — louder, heavier, and a bit wilder. The Raptor, though, strikes a better balance between power and everyday drivability. I’d also compare it to the Chevy Silverado Trail Boss or GMC AT4 for someone who wants off-road ability without going full performance truck. ⸻ Overall The 2020 Raptor is one of those rare trucks that feels alive. It’s strong, capable, and surprisingly refined. Whether you’re driving across the country or exploring back roads, it’s a truck that makes you want to keep going. That’s why I gave it a perfect 5-star rating.

The picture is deceiving. It’s actually missing driver side running board. And the inside was very dirty. Back head rest was also missing.

Is the 2020 Ford F-150 a good car?
Yes — owners rate it 4.72/5, and our experts give it 8.33/10. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.
Owners consistently praise its power, smooth ride, and interior comfort, and many appreciate the engine performance, especially the 3.5L EcoBoost and 5.0L V8 options. The truck also stands out for its spaciousness and broad versatility, which fits its role as a commuter, family hauler, road-trip vehicle, and work truck.
The trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard and the interior materials can feel cheap.
For you, that means the 2020 F-150 makes the most sense if you want a capable full-size pickup that can do daily duty without giving up towing and hauling ability. With 27.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still room to shop selectively.
Is the 2020 Ford F-150 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.72/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, trouble-free, and easy to count on, especially when you value strong power and a smooth ride over flashier luxury touches. The expert assessment also highlights an accommodating, modern interior and a powertrain lineup built to handle worksite demands with confidence.
If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is that some examples may show their age in cabin materials and feature content, so condition and trim choice matter.

The 2020 Ford F-150 is offered in 7 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor, and Limited.
Here's the short version:
- XL: This is the value-focused starting point if you want the basics and standard forward automatic emergency braking without paying for extra comfort or tech.
- XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds SYNC 3, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a WiFi hotspot, and more everyday convenience.
- Lariat: Choose this if you want the sweet spot between work-truck utility and luxury, with leather-trimmed seats, dual-zone climate control, blind spot monitoring, and heated and cooled front seats.
- King Ranch: This trim suits you if you want a more distinctive cabin with saddle-leather upholstery, premium audio, heated rear seats, and a remote release tailgate.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford F-150?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right truck.
- Deal availability: 27.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,170 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.76% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $30,697 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Ford F-150's resale value?
The current average of $31,783 CAD sits slightly below last year's $34,458 CAD.
That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may face more competition if inventory stays healthy. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s average. Strong demand for versatile full-size pickups should still help support values, especially for well-equipped trims and desirable powertrains.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.72/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Ford F-150 safe?
The 2020 Ford F-150 SuperCrew earns five-star ratings from NHTSA and top marks from IIHS in its various crash tests.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford Co-Pilot360 brings automatic high beams, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. Forward automatic emergency braking is standard, including on the XL, while a reverse sensing system is available on the base trim.
One important caveat is that the SuperCab and regular cab managed only four-star ratings from NHTSA, so cab choice matters if safety is a priority.
Should I buy a 2020 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 27.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.76% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.72/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It offers broad trim and powertrain variety with strong towing capability.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $37,105 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $31,783 CAD average.
- It adds a redesigned interior and the new Sync 4 infotainment system.
The bottom line: The 2020 is the better pick if you want a proven, well-rounded F-150 at a lower price with strong owner satisfaction and plenty of configurations to choose from. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2020 makes more sense; if you want the newer cabin and tech, the 2021 is the upgrade to consider.
