The truck’s performance also supports that impression, with a lineup built around engines that deliver the power and torque needed for towing and hauling. Ford’s first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that feature content and cabin quality can vary a lot by trim, so condition and equipment matter.

Which 2020 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2020 Ford F-150 is offered in 7 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the most affordable path into the F-150, but it is also the most basic. You get the essentials, plus standard forward automatic emergency braking, so it suits you if you want a no-frills work truck.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds SYNC 3, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a WiFi hotspot, and more exterior polish without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Lariat: This is the sweet spot if you want a noticeable step up in comfort. Leather-trimmed seats, dual-zone climate control, blind spot monitoring, and heated and cooled front seats make it the most balanced choice for many buyers.
• King Ranch: Choose this if you want a more distinctive cabin and stronger luxury feel, with saddle-leather upholstery, premium audio, heated rear seats, and a remote release tailgate.
• Platinum: This trim leans into upscale convenience, especially with its massaging seats, LED bed lighting, and more premium exterior detailing.
• Raptor: This is the off-road specialist, with a wider body, lifted suspension, Fox Racing Shox, and terrain-focused hardware and drive modes.
• Limited: This is the most comfort-focused version, with premium leather upholstery, a dual-panel moonroof, and upscale exterior touches.

Advanced safety features are not standard on every trim, so check carefully for the driver-assistance equipment you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford F-150?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it rewards comparison shopping rather than impulse buying.

• Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,133 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.30% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $30,692 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $31,673 CAD sits slightly below last year's $34,920 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more truck for the money today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment. If prices stay near this level, depreciation pressure could remain noticeable for a while.

Even so, the F-150’s broad appeal helps support demand. Trucks with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.72/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Ford F-150 safe?

The 2020 Ford F-150 SuperCrew trucks received top marks from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and earn five-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the SuperCrew configuration, while the SuperCab and regular cab managed four-star ratings.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 can include automatic high beams, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. Pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking is standard, including on the XL, and a reverse sensing system is available on the base XL.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard across the range, so you should verify the exact equipment on any used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2020 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.72/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It balances commuter comfort, work-ready capability, and broad trim choice.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $37,102 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $31,673 CAD average.
• It adds a revamped interior and the new Sync 4 infotainment system.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the smarter buy because prices are softer and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for newer tech and a refreshed cabin, the 2021 is the better upgrade path.
