What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Acura RDX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base RDX already comes well equipped with synthetic leather upholstery, 19-inch alloy wheels, 12-way power-adjustable heated front seats, a panoramic moonroof, acoustic front glass, a 10.2-inch infotainment screen, a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, and a host of driver-assistance features. Tech adds additional driver-assistance features, rain-sensing wipers, and rear-door keyless entry, while A-Spec brings unique 20-inch wheels and bumpers, larger exhaust outlets, LED fog lights, and a unique diamond pattern grille. Platinum Elite A-Spec adds 16-way power front seats, heated rear seats, and natural Olive Ash wood trim.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and standard SH-AWD. The setup delivers strong acceleration, good highway passing power, and solid handling.
• Safety package: The standard safety suite includes lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, road-departure mitigation, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow. Tech adds front and rear parking sensors, and Platinum Elite A-Spec adds a 360-degree surround-view camera.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with Bluetooth, two USB ports, a WiFi hot spot, a 9-speaker audio system, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Tech adds two rear USB ports, navigation with real-time traffic updates, and Acura’s ELS premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review cites Natural Resources Canada estimates of 11.3 L/100 km in the city, 9.1 L/100 km on the highway, and 10.3 L/100 km combined for the tested A-Spec model. It also notes that the RDX takes premium fuel.

Which 2020 Acura RDX trim should I buy?

The 2020 Acura RDX is offered in 4 trim levels: RDX, Tech, A-Spec, and Platinum Elite A-Spec.

Here's the short version:

• RDX: This is the best-value choice because it already includes a long list of standard equipment, including heated front seats, a panoramic moonroof, a 10.2-inch infotainment screen, and a full suite of driver-assistance features. If you want the strongest mix of price and content, this is the trim to start with.
• Tech: Choose this if you want more convenience and a better audio setup, thanks to added rear-seat USB ports, navigation with real-time traffic updates, and Acura’s ELS premium audio system. It also adds front and rear parking sensors, which make it easier to live with day to day.
• A-Spec: This is the style-and-features upgrade, with unique exterior details, ventilated front seats, UltraSuede upholstery, sport pedals, and the ELS Studio 3D premium sound system with 16 speakers. It suits you if you want a more distinctive look and a richer cabin experience.
• Platinum Elite A-Spec: This is the most luxurious version, adding 16-way power front seats, heated rear seats, natural Olive Ash wood trim, a 10.5-inch head-up display, and a 360-degree surround-view camera. It makes sense if you want the most upscale RDX possible.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Acura RDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 202 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.72% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $29,575 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Acura RDX's resale value?

The current average of $29,575 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,502 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier for future sellers to attract interest if the market stays active. At the same time, the lower average price means you should not expect the same resale strength you might have seen when prices were higher.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Acura RDX safe?

The 2020 Acura RDX was named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and earned a five-star overall crash test safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The standard safety suite includes lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, road-departure mitigation, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow. Tech adds front and rear parking sensors, while Platinum Elite A-Spec adds a 360-degree surround-view camera.

Should I buy a 2020 Acura RDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.72% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It offers strong value, plenty of space, and a broad safety-tech package.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $32,914 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $29,575 CAD average.
• It brings a completely rethought True Touch Interface infotainment system.

The bottom line: If you want the better value proposition, the 2020 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and solid equipment. If you are willing to pay more for a newer-feeling cabin and updated infotainment, the 2021 is the better alternative.
