Is the 2019 Volvo XC40 a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Volvo XC40 earns a 4.7/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers commonly praise its excellent safety features, ample power, and luxurious feel, and many also call out its standout design and performance. The main recurring drawback is the tech interface, especially touchscreen-based functions that can feel complicated. Is the 2019 Volvo XC40 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with drivers describing the XC40 as a vehicle they feel good about living with over time. The repeated praise for safety, power, and overall quality suggests a model many owners feel they can count on. For used buyers, that kind of satisfaction lowers the sense of long-term ownership risk, especially if the specific vehicle has been maintained well.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Volvo XC40?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right one.

• Deal availability: 18.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 27 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.72% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $21,120 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Volvo XC40's resale value?

The current average of $21,608 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,672 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour if you're buying now, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations. If the market stays near this level, resale values are likely to reflect steady but not especially strong appreciation. The model's broad owner approval helps support demand, which can cushion depreciation over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Volvo XC40 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 18.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.72% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2019 XC40 makes the most sense if you want the original model-year value story and you find a well-priced example with the features and condition you want.
