Is the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas earns a 4.5/5 user rating, and its appeal is strongest if you want a three-row midsize SUV with a vast interior, a straightforward layout, and a refined driving feel. It is especially well suited to family use, with very roomy second and third rows, seating for up to seven, and plenty of storage and convenience features. The clean cabin design and practical focus make it easy to live with day to day.

With 32.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2019 Atlas does have some caution flags in its overview: it is described as having slightly below-average reliability compared with some competitors, and out-of-warranty repair costs can be high. Early models also had transmission and electrical issues, so a complete service history matters.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a vehicle that has unresolved repair history or deferred maintenance, so a careful inspection and records review are especially important.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Volkswagen Atlas?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 193 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 26.94% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $21,497 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas's resale value?

The current average of $21,497 CAD sits slightly below last year's $29,423 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Atlas more attractive to buyers today but may also limit upside for a future seller if prices stay soft. If you buy at the lower end of the range, you may have a better chance of protecting your value over time. Strong maintenance records should matter here, especially given the model’s ownership-cost concerns.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Volkswagen Atlas or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 26.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2019 Atlas makes the most sense if you want the roomy, practical, family-first version of this SUV and you can find one with solid service records. If you are price-sensitive, nearby model years may also be worth comparing, but the 2019 is the one to target when you want a strong mix of value, space, and buyer appeal.
