Used 2019 BMW X5 for Sale nearWaterloo, ON

How much does the 2019 BMW X5 cost?

Prices have softened 15.73% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 166 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 BMW X5 a good car?

Yes — the 2019 BMW X5 earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its strong performance, comfort, sleek design, advanced technology, and luxury features. In practical terms, that lines up well with its role as a midsize crossover that blends car-like handling with SUV practicality, plus a roomier cabin than the previous model.

There are still some trade-offs to keep in mind, especially if you want a family-friendly luxury SUV that you can live with every day. Even so, the combination of strong owner sentiment and a broad appeal for buyers who want room, comfort, and driving enjoyment makes it an attractive used choice.

The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 33.1% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2019 BMW X5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience for many buyers, with praise centred on comfort, performance, and the sense that the vehicle delivers a premium experience over time. That said, some owners mention electrical issues and a limited back seat, which are worth weighing if you plan to keep the vehicle for the long haul.

The powertrain and transmission are described as a strong combination, with smooth operation and consistent power delivery that helps the X5 feel easy to count on in daily driving. The transmission is also praised for smooth, efficient shifting.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a premium SUV with advanced technology can become more expensive to live with if repairs or electrical issues show up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 BMW X5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base xDrive40i already brings all-wheel drive, adaptive LED headlights and fog lights, a panoramic sunroof, an adaptive suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped and power-adjustable steering wheel, faux-leather upholstery, a power liftgate, ambient lighting, and a digital gauge cluster with a 12.3-inch secondary touchscreen. Heated front seats are optional, so make sure the equipment level matches your expectations.
• Powertrain: You get a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder in the xDrive40i, while the xDrive50i uses a 4.4-litre V8. The six-cylinder is praised for smooth, immediate power and strong real-world efficiency, while the V8 is the choice if you want much more straight-line performance.
• Safety package: The available safety suite includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Most of these features are optional, so check carefully before you buy.
• Infotainment: The X5 uses an updated iDrive system with a 12.3-inch secondary touchscreen. Wireless charging, enhanced USB and Bluetooth connectivity, a rear-view camera with 3D view, gesture control, and Parking Assistant Plus are available, but the tech is described as less polished than the best systems in the segment.
• Fuel efficiency: The six-cylinder powertrain is rated at 11.7 L/100 km in city driving, 9.1 L/100 km on the highway, and 10.5 L/100 km combined.

Which 2019 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2019 BMW X5 is offered in 2 trim levels: xDrive40i and xDrive50i.

Here's the short version:

• xDrive40i: This is the best-value choice if you want the core X5 experience. It already gives you the smooth turbocharged inline six-cylinder, all-wheel drive, and a strong list of standard luxury features, while also delivering the efficiency figures that make the model easier to live with.
• xDrive50i: Choose this if you want the V8 and are willing to pay for much stronger acceleration. It is the more expensive route, but it is the right pick if outright performance matters more than running costs.

The safety package is impressive, but most of its features are optional, so verify exactly what is fitted on any used example you consider.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 BMW X5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 166 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.73% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,977 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $34,977 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,504 CAD.

That price decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper resale expectations later. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking an immediate depreciation hit.

For a future seller, the key question is whether demand stays strong enough to support values once the vehicle ages further. The X5’s premium image and broad appeal should help, but the softer pricing trend means you should not expect especially aggressive resale gains in the near term.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 BMW X5 safe?

The 2019 BMW X5 earns a four-star rating from the US government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), with four-star ratings in all frontal crash and rollover tests and five-star ratings in side crash tests. The independent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named it a Top Safety Pick+ and awarded top scores in all tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The available driver-assistance suite includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Those features are available rather than universally standard, so you should confirm the exact equipment on any used example.

One important caveat is that the semi-autonomous driving system is described as disappointing and, at speed, potentially frustrating enough that it may not be worth seeking out.

Should I buy a 2019 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It’s the first year of the all-new generation, with a redesigned interior, updated iDrive, and Level 2 autonomous technology.

The bottom line: If you want the newest-shape X5 with strong performance, a premium cabin, and a market that currently favours shoppers, the 2019 is the right place to start. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year may offer a lower entry price, but you should expect to give up some of the freshness and appeal that come with this redesign.
