CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Porsche Macan
Summary
With 84 currently listed for sale and an average price of $26,899 CAD, 31.0% of 2018 Porsche Macan listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Porsche Macan 4.64 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Porsche Macan stands out because it blends compact-SUV practicality with the sportier character Porsche built into the model from the start. It is a five-seater with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission, and its coupe-like shape gives it a sleek look while also limiting interior space. That trade-off is part of the Macan’s appeal: it feels more like a driver’s SUV than a purely utility-focused one, with a premium cabin and a reputation for being one of the best vehicles in its class to drive.
For 2018, the Macan sits in the period before Porsche’s major 2019 update, so it still reflects the earlier version of the model. The range available by then included the base model’s 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder with 252 horsepower, plus the Macan S and Macan Turbo with twin-turbo V6 engines. Standard equipment was already strong, and even early Macans had electric front seat adjustment, electric folding door mirrors, and a power tailgate; by the 2016 model year, the base model also had three-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, and lane departure warning. That combination of performance, equipment, and Porsche branding makes the 2018 Macan appealing, though buyers should note that rear-seat space is below average and higher-powered versions use more fuel.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 183 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.78% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $29,497 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Porsche Macan's resale value?
The current average of $29,795 CAD sits slightly below last year's $34,159 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the Macan easier to buy now but may also mean future sellers need to be realistic on asking price. If you own one and keep it in strong condition, the current pricing trend still leaves room for healthy resale interest. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.64/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Porsche Macan or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.78% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.64/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2018 Macan is a strong choice if you want the earlier version of this compact luxury SUV and value its sporty character, premium feel, and solid owner approval. If you are price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-priced examples, but the 2018 remains a sensible target when you find a well-kept listing in the lower end of the market.
