CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Porsche Macan
Summary
With 30 currently listed for sale and an average price of $31,562 CAD, 23.3% of 2018 Porsche Macan listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Porsche Macan 4.64 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Porsche Macan stands out as a compact luxury SUV that puts driving enjoyment ahead of outright practicality. It was designed with a sportier brief than most rivals, and its all-wheel drive and seven-speed PDK automatic transmission give it the kind of polished, performance-focused character buyers expect from Porsche. That appeal is reinforced by its high-quality interior and the strong reputation it has built for reliability.
For 2018, the Macan sits in the period before Porsche’s major 2019 update, so it still reflects the model’s earlier formula rather than the later redesign. Even so, it already came well equipped, with electric front seat adjustment, electric folding door mirrors, and a power tailgate. The Macan’s compact size and sleek shape do mean rear-seat space is below average, and it is not the most practical choice in its class, but that trade-off is part of what gives it its distinctive feel.
What makes the 2018 Macan especially appealing is the way it blends premium ambience with a genuinely engaging drive. Owners commonly praise its sporty handling, responsive character, and luxurious cabin, while also noting that it feels smaller than some larger SUVs. For buyers who want a used compact SUV with a strong sense of occasion and a true Porsche identity, the 2018 Macan remains a compelling choice.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 183 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.78% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $29,497 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Porsche Macan's resale value?
The current average of $29,795 CAD sits slightly below last year's $34,159 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the Macan easier to buy now but may also mean future sellers need to be realistic on asking price. If you own one and keep it in strong condition, the current pricing trend still leaves room for healthy resale interest. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.64/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Porsche Macan or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.78% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.64/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2018 Macan is a strong choice if you want the earlier version of this compact luxury SUV and value its sporty character, premium feel, and solid owner approval. If you are price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-priced examples, but the 2018 remains a sensible target when you find a well-kept listing in the lower end of the market.
