What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Honda Accord?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add more of the upscale feel and convenience features that owners tend to appreciate. Sport and EX-L also bring useful equipment differences, and Touring trims add the most premium content.
• Powertrain: You can shop 1.5T and 2.0T versions, both of which use turbocharged four-cylinder engines. The 1.5T is the efficiency-focused choice, while the 2.0T brings stronger performance and is paired with a 10-speed automatic.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing comes standard and includes auto-braking, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, road departure mitigation with lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, auto high beams, LED low-beam headlights, a driver attention monitor, and a backup camera with three views. Blind-spot monitoring is standard on Touring trims, and LaneWatch is included with Sport and EX-L.

Which 2018 Honda Accord trim should I buy?

The 2018 Honda Accord is offered in 8 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L, Touring, Sport 2.0, Touring 2.0, Hybrid, Hybrid Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Accord’s core strengths without paying for extra equipment. It still gets Honda Sensing and the standard tech and safety basics, so it covers the essentials well.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim if you want a more engaging feel and a better equipment mix without jumping too far up the price ladder. It also adds LaneWatch, which is a useful safety and convenience feature.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin and more comfort-focused content. It’s the trim that starts to lean into the Accord’s near-luxury personality.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version and suits you if you want the most premium Accord experience, including blind-spot monitoring and the most advanced convenience features.
• Sport 2.0: Pick this if you want the stronger 2.0T engine in a sportier-feeling package. It’s the right choice if performance matters more to you than maximum efficiency.
• Touring 2.0: This is the top gas-powered trim for buyers who want the strongest engine plus the most features. It combines the 2.0T with the most upscale equipment.
• Hybrid: This is the efficiency-oriented choice if you’re prioritising fuel savings over outright power.
• Hybrid Touring: This is the most feature-rich hybrid, aimed at buyers who want efficiency and a more premium experience.

Honda Sensing comes standard across the range, while blind-spot monitoring is reserved for Touring trims and LaneWatch is included with Sport and EX-L.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Honda Accord?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 204 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.90% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $18,981 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Honda Accord's resale value?

The current average of $18,981 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,835 CAD.

That softer pricing means the Accord is currently more accessible to used buyers than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that can limit upside if the market stays soft, especially if you’re competing against a healthy supply of listings. On the other hand, the Accord’s strong reputation, broad appeal, and owner satisfaction should help it remain easy to move when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Honda Accord safe?

The 2018 Accord is rated a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, scoring the highest in all five crash tests and a separate crash-avoidance test that measures the auto-braking system. A lower rating for the headlights kept the Accord from earning a Top Safety Pick+ rating. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gives the 2018 Accord a five-star overall safety rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing comes standard on every Accord and includes auto-braking, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, road departure mitigation with lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, auto high beams, LED low-beam headlights, a driver attention monitor, and a backup camera with three views. Blind-spot monitoring is standard on Touring trims, and LaneWatch is included with Sport and EX-L.

Should I buy a 2018 Honda Accord or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.90% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 model year stands out for its all-new generation design, sporty driving character, and broad appeal as a roomy, efficient family sedan.

The bottom line: If you want the most distinctive mix of driving enjoyment, space, and value in this generation, the 2018 is the one to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, equipment, and asking price.
