Summary
With 29 currently listed for sale near Burnaby, BC and an average price of $24,576 CAD, 37.9% of 2018 Ford Mustangs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Ford Mustang 4.61 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.33 / 10.

Why it stands out
With a nip here and a tuck there, plus substantial mechanical and technological improvements, the 2018 Ford Mustang aims to ensure its continued popularity. It is presented as less rudimentary and more sophisticated than ever, blurring the line between mainstream and premium cars or sports cars and muscle cars. The Mustang’s long-standing role as the car that gave rise to the “pony car” name also helps explain why it remains such a distinctive presence in the American two-door sports coupe segment.
That broader appeal is reinforced by the way the 2018 Ford Mustang is described as no longer being limited to just the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger when performance is considered. Owners’ feedback also points to the same basic strengths: power, sporty design, enjoyable driving, fast acceleration, and a smooth ride. At the same time, some owners were disappointed by trunk space and discrepancies in vehicle specifications, which suggests the Mustang’s character comes with a few practical compromises.

This is a driver’s car. Base model, performance package, standard shift. It’s got all the right parts and it is exactly the car I would have ordered if I were there to purchase this car when it was new.

First the color Kona Blue is beautiful especially in the sunlight. Ride is smooth and comfortable. I love that you change to sport mode. And your comfort or sport for steering. Love it! Inexpensive muscle car.

Engine sounds good. Interior has lots of cigarette burns. Front bumper cover was repainted, could have done a better job on the clear coat. Scratch down the passenger side quarter panel. Would have bought for cash if price was a little bit lower.

Is the 2018 Ford Mustang a good car?
Yes — owners rate it 4.61/5, and our experts score it 8.33/10. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise its power, sporty design, and enjoyable driving experience, along with fast acceleration and a smooth ride. The overview also points to its broad appeal as a fun, stylish, and affordable muscle car, with the convertible especially suited to leisure driving. In practical terms, that makes it a strong fit if you want character and performance without moving into a pure premium-sports-car price bracket.
Good and great deals account for 31.7% of listings, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.
Is the 2018 Ford Mustang reliable?
Owners rate it 4.61/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback highlights a car that feels fun, stylish, and enjoyable to live with, while also describing it as affordable for the performance it delivers. That combination points to a model you can count on for enthusiast appeal over time, especially if you value a lively driving experience and strong emotional payoff.
From a dependability standpoint, the expert review describes the Mustang as more sophisticated than before, with improved mechanical and technological execution. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the car has been maintained properly and that any performance-oriented hardware has not been abused.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Ford Mustang?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The GT Premium coupe sits above the more basic EcoBoost and GT versions by adding higher-quality interior materials, exposed contrast stitching, and available aluminium carbon-pattern trim. If you want leather seats, you need to move up to Premium trim, and the base cabin is more plainly finished.
- Powertrain: You can choose between a turbocharged 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine and a V8 GT engine, with rear-wheel drive as the only layout. The V8 gets 460 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, while the EcoBoost is the value-oriented choice if you want lower running costs.
- Safety package: The car includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, a driver monitoring system, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts. The lane-keeping assist can detract from driving enjoyment, and the IIHS small-overlap frontal result is only Acceptable.
- Infotainment: Sync 3 brings enhanced touchscreen features, Bluetooth, a reasonably priced available navigation system, and a rearview camera. The 12-inch digital instrument cluster is available, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available, and Ford Sync Connect adds remote access through a smartphone app.
- Fuel efficiency: The V8-powered GT is rated at 12.5 L/100 km in combined driving, and the review’s test loop returned 12.6 L/100 km.
Which 2018 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?
The 2018 Ford Mustang is offered in 4 trim levels: EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium.
Here's the short version:
- EcoBoost: This is the value pick if you want Mustang style and performance potential without paying V8 money. It is the trim the review points to as the real value choice, especially if you want a more affordable way into the model.
- EcoBoost Premium: Choose this if you want the EcoBoost’s lower running-cost appeal but also want a nicer cabin with upgraded materials and a more polished feel.
- GT: This is the right choice if you want the V8 experience and stronger straight-line performance, but do not need the extra comfort and finish of Premium trim.
- GT Premium: This is the best-value trim if you want the full Mustang experience with the richer interior, contrast stitching, and the most complete mix of performance and comfort.
The safety package includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, driver monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Ford Mustang?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.
- Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 189 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.70% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $25,262 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Ford Mustang's resale value?
The current average of $26,549 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,763 CAD.
That softer pricing suggests the market has become a little more favourable for buyers, which can make future resale more competitive if you purchase at the right price. If values continue to normalise, sellers may need to lean more heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment to stand out. Well-kept examples with desirable trims and strong equipment should still hold attention better than plain or heavily worn ones.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.61/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2018 Ford Mustang safe?
The 2018 Mustang earns an Acceptable rating from the IIHS for small-overlap frontal-impact protection and Good ratings in other crash-test assessments, while the NHTSA gives it five-star overall safety ratings.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
The safety suite includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, a driver monitoring system, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts. These systems are calibrated for performance driving, but the lane-keeping assist can reduce enjoyment and can be switched off.
Should I buy a 2018 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.70% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.61/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2018 adds major tech and safety upgrades, plus a more sophisticated feel.
Consider the 2019 if:
- At $31,424 CAD, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $26,549 CAD average.
- It adds Bullitt-specific styling, extra power, and a more heritage-focused personality.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2018 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and meaningful updates. If you are willing to pay more for a special-edition feel and added exclusivity, the 2019 is the more distinctive choice.
