Is the 2018 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Ford Explorer earns a 4.7/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its spacious interior, comfortable ride, and strong performance, and many also like the extra features such as heated seats and a sunroof. For you, that makes it a sensible pick if you want a roomy, family-friendly midsize SUV with a broad range of equipment and a more composed driving feel than earlier Explorer generations. With 28.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some market flexibility if you shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a vehicle that many owners find dependable and trouble-free enough to recommend, especially for everyday family use. That kind of long-term approval matters if you want a used SUV you can count on for regular commuting, errands, and road trips. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been cared for properly, since condition and maintenance history can matter a lot over time.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 318 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.37% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,703 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $17,703 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,956 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the Explorer easier to buy now but may also limit upside for a future seller if prices stay soft. If you plan to resell later, the current trend means you should be realistic about depreciation and focus on buying well. A clean history, strong maintenance records, and desirable equipment can help protect value when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 is a strong choice if you want a roomy, well-equipped Explorer with solid owner approval and a softer used-market price. If you are especially price-sensitive, nearby years may be worth comparing, but the 2018 stands out as a balanced option when you want value, space, and broad appeal.
