Why it stands out
The 2018 Dodge Durango stands out as a three-row SUV that blends family usefulness with a distinctly muscular character. In Canada, all-wheel drive has been standard for the Durango’s entire third generation, and the model’s crossover construction makes it more comfortable and easier to drive than its truck-based predecessors. It also offers real versatility: the standard seating arrangement carries seven passengers, while some versions with second-row captain’s chairs reduce capacity to six.
What makes the 2018 model especially appealing is the breadth of equipment and powertrain choice available in this generation. The lineup includes the base Pentastar V6 as well as 5.7-litre, 6.4-litre, and supercharged 6.2-litre Hemi V8s, and buyers can find trims ranging from practical family versions to high-performance models. Depending on the trim, features can include leather or Nappa leather, a premium Harman Kardon audio system, lane departure warning, a backup camera, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The 2021 overhaul brought updated infotainment technology with improved touchscreen accessibility, but even within this generation the Durango’s mix of space, performance, and available technology is a major part of its appeal.
There are trade-offs to keep in mind. The earliest model years of this generation were affected by many recalls for issues such as brake failure, problematic fuel pumps, and electrical and wiring problems, so inspection matters. The Durango also has a reputation for poor fuel economy, and some versions have been known to suffer infotainment glitches. Still, for buyers who want a roomy SUV with strong powertrains and a more engaging personality than many rivals, the 2018 Dodge Durango remains distinctive.

I LOVE everything about this suv. I needed something with 3 rows because kids, but I didn’t want to settle for a “mom” van. The dvd entertainment is amazing, especially for the kids. I can drive peacefully and even have actual conversations with my husband instead of getting interrupted by my kids 5 times in a minute, because they’re busy watching movies. The heated seats and steering wheel is another plus. It’s drives amazing. I am seriously in love with my Dodge Durango r/t. I wouldn’t change a thing about it

Is the 2018 Dodge Durango a good car?
Yes — the 4.67/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, powerful performance, and family-friendly features, while also calling out the smooth ride and useful technology. If you want a three-row SUV that balances family usefulness with a more muscular personality, this model year fits that brief well. With 24.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Dodge Durango reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that many people find dependable for family use, with praise for its trouble-free day-to-day comfort, smooth ride, and practical features. That said, used buyers should still plan for a careful inspection, since long-term ownership risk can rise if a vehicle has been poorly maintained or has unresolved issues.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Dodge Durango?
This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 24.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 94 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 23.02% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $20,489 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Dodge Durango's resale value?
The current average of $21,551 CAD sits slightly below last year's $27,996 CAD.
For a future seller, that softer pricing trend means the market is currently valuing this model year more conservatively than it did a year ago. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who purchased when prices were higher. Strong demand for roomy three-row SUVs can still help support resale, especially if your vehicle is well equipped and in good condition.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Dodge Durango or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 24.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 23.02% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: You should focus on the 2018 if you want a three-row SUV with strong owner approval, a softer used-market price, and enough inventory to compare options. If you're especially price-sensitive, you can also keep nearby years in view and use the current market softness to negotiate hard on the best-maintained example you can find.
