CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Acura RDX
Summary
With 167 currently listed for sale and an average price of $20,361 CAD, 28.1% of 2018 Acura RDX listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Acura RDX 4.86 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Acura RDX stands out as a compact luxury SUV that blends strong performance with everyday practicality. It belongs to the second generation, which brought a 3.5-litre V6 with 273 horsepower and standard all-wheel drive through a six-speed automatic transmission. Acura also softened the suspension for a more comfortable driving experience, and the model was designed to appeal to buyers who wanted a practical and comfortable crossover. That combination helped the RDX sell in greater numbers than the first generation ever did.
For 2018, the RDX remained a well-equipped and usable choice. The Technology Package added a power tailgate, a navigation system, and a 10-speaker ELS premium audio system, while the Elite package added ventilated front seats, front and rear parking sensors, and more. The second-generation RDX also offered plenty of room for passengers and cargo, with 739 litres behind the second-row seats and 2,178 litres with the rear seats folded flat. Buyers looking at this model year also benefit from the AcuraWatch suite introduced for 2016, which included adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation with automatic braking, lane departure intervention, and an available blind-spot monitoring system.
Its main drawbacks are less about capability than character. The source notes that the second-generation RDX does not offer much excitement for people who love to drive, and its two-screen infotainment setup was not very intuitive to use. Even so, the 2018 Acura RDX remains appealing for shoppers who want a comfortable, practical luxury crossover with strong value and a solid mix of features.

Absolutely marvelous piece of engineering. Joy to drive and take advantage of the many safety features as well as all other amenities. Switching from MDX to RDX - no regrets whatsoever. Perfect choice for family of 4. My MDX didnt have ADVANTAGE PACKAGE, so its a step up for me.

Drivers consistently praise its comfortable ride, luxurious interior, and strong performance, and many also value the advanced features it offers. It also fits well if you want a practical luxury SUV with useful passenger and cargo space, plus a strong value proposition when shopping used. With 28.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.
Is the 2018 Acura RDX reliable?
Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Acura RDX?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 167 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.16% compared with last year.

What is the 2018 Acura RDX's resale value?
The current average of $20,338 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,892 CAD.
That price movement suggests the model has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy at the right number now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Acura RDX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.16% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want a comfortable, practical luxury SUV with strong owner approval and a softer used-market price, the 2018 is the year to focus on. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby model years to see whether a similar RDX offers a lower entry point, but the 2018 stands out as a balanced choice for value and satisfaction.
