Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS a good car?

Yes — the 4.6/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its impressive power, comfort, and engineering quality, and many also like the smooth, powerful performance and stylish design. The main trade-offs mentioned are less spaciousness than some rivals and a few missing tech features. With 48.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a solid chance of finding attractive pricing.

Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels well-built and dependable in day-to-day use, with praise centred on engineering quality and a smooth driving experience. That kind of feedback suggests you can count on it for long-term ownership if it has been maintained properly.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the ownership experience itself and more about making sure the vehicle’s maintenance history is clean and complete.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

It looks like a buyer’s market for this model year, especially if you are price-conscious.

• Deal availability: 48.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 39 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 27.68% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $28,244 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS's resale value?

The current average of $28,244 CAD sits slightly below last year's $39,053 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If you purchase at a strong price, you may be better positioned to preserve value later. The current spread between the low and high end also shows there is room for condition, mileage, and equipment to influence what your vehicle is worth.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 48.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 27.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want a luxury three-row SUV with strong owner approval and a softer used-market price. If your priority is simply stretching your budget further, a nearby year with similar satisfaction and a lower asking price may be worth a closer look.
