Generally — the 2017 Honda HR-V earns a 4.4/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Is the 2017 Honda HR-V reliable?

The owner feedback also leans toward dependable day-to-day use, with many drivers describing the HR-V as a smooth, easy vehicle to live with over time. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable, but you should pay close attention to service history and how the transmission behaves on a test drive.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Honda HR-V?

This is a moderate market for buyers, so you can be selective without expecting deep discounts on every listing.

• Deal availability: 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 139 listings available.

What is the 2017 Honda HR-V's resale value?

The current average of $16,823 CAD sits slightly below last year's $18,196 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if prices stay under pressure. For a seller, the current trend points to a vehicle that still has demand, but not enough momentum to support a strong premium. If you plan to own it for several years, the HR-V’s practical appeal should help it remain saleable when you decide to move on.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Honda HR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.55% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 Honda HR-V makes sense if you want a practical, affordable small SUV with strong everyday usefulness and you find one priced near the lower end of the market. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years for the best mix of condition and asking price, but the 2017 remains a sensible choice when value and versatility matter most.
