That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar right away. Strong demand for sporty, stylish cars can still help support values, especially for well-kept examples.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.76% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $25,577 CAD, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $24,151 CAD average.
• It brings a more polished feel with substantial mechanical and technological improvements.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the better starting point if you want a lower average price and decent deal availability. If you can stretch your budget and want a more refined version, the 2018 is the stronger upgrade; price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2017.
