Is the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander earns a 4.75/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It stands out in the compact SUV class for offering third-row seating, a more distinctive exterior than many rivals, and a practical layout that can suit school carpools and short trips. If you want a compact SUV with extra passenger flexibility and a less plain design, it fits that brief well. The market also shows 23.8% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Outlander’s appeal is built around versatility and everyday usefulness, with a cabin that is less polarising than the exterior and a layout that prioritises practicality. At the same time, its recall history and below-average value retention are worth keeping in mind when you evaluate a used example. For long-term ownership, that means you should pay close attention to maintenance records and overall condition before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to compare listings carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 23.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 80 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.56% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,967 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander's resale value?

The current average of $11,128 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,443 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Outlander easier to buy now but less favourable if you are thinking about future resale. If you plan to sell later, the current trend implies you may need to price competitively to stand out. The model’s practical packaging may help keep it appealing to value-focused shoppers, but the broader market signal is still one of softer retained value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 23.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.56% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Outlander makes the most sense if you want a compact SUV with third-row flexibility, a more distinctive look, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, equipment, and asking price.
