This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to be patient and focus on the best examples.

The current average of $14,238 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,406 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make future resale a little more competitive if you plan to sell later. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone purchasing when prices were higher. Strong condition and careful maintenance will matter more if you want to protect value over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 23.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of owner satisfaction and current pricing, the 2016 is a sensible year to target. If you're especially price-sensitive, keep comparing nearby model years and focus on the best-priced listings with clean history and solid condition.
