What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota Corolla?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Corolla is offered in four trims: CE, LE, LE Eco and S. All versions include LED headlights, air conditioning, power windows, locks and mirrors, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a height-adjustable driver’s seat and Bluetooth connectivity with a USB 2.0 port. The LE adds larger 16-inch wheels and heated front seats, while the S brings unique hubcaps, side mirrors with integrated turn signals, a rear spoiler, sportier front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, a Sport driving mode and revised dashboard trim.
• Powertrain: A 1.8-litre four-cylinder powers all versions through front-wheel drive. The engine makes 132 horsepower in most trims, while the LE Eco gets a retuned version with 140 horsepower and better fuel economy. A six-speed manual is standard on CE and S, while the CVT is offered on CE and S and standard on LE.
• Safety package: Toyota doesn’t offer any newfangled active safety systems in the Corolla. There is no blind-spot monitoring system, no lane-departure warning system, no rear cross-traffic alert system, no active cruise control system with forward-collision warning and no automatic braking function. A backup camera is about as sophisticated as it gets, and that's not standard.
• Infotainment: Bluetooth is standard on all models, and Toyota’s Entune App Suite is available on higher grades. The system uses a 6.1-inch touchscreen, and the review notes that it can be fiddly to use even though the radio gets large menu buttons plus actual volume and tuning knobs.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates the Corolla S test car should have returned 8.3 L/100 km in the city and 6.2 L/100 km on the highway. The reviewer averaged 7.9 L/100 km in mixed driving.

Which 2015 Toyota Corolla trim should I buy?

The 2015 Toyota Corolla is offered in 4 trim levels: CE, LE, LE Eco and S.

Here's the short version:

• CE: This is the simplest way into the Corolla lineup, and it gives you the core Corolla formula with standard Bluetooth, LED headlights and the basic comfort and convenience features. It suits you if you want the lowest-friction path to Corolla ownership and do not need extra equipment.
• LE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds heated front seats and larger 16-inch wheels, while making the CVT standard. If you want the most balanced mix of comfort and everyday usability, this is the one to focus on.
• LE Eco: Choose this if fuel economy matters most and you want the retuned engine with 140 horsepower. It keeps the LE-style equipment while adding the efficiency-focused setup.
• S: This is the style-and-feel choice, with sportier trim details, paddle shifters, a Sport driving mode and a manual transmission option. It makes sense if you want the Corolla with the most personality.

Toyota’s safety content also notes that a backup camera is not standard, so check equipment carefully by trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Toyota Corolla?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 206 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.88% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $12,294 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Toyota Corolla's resale value?

The current average of $12,497 CAD sits slightly below last year's $13,278 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Corolla is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago, which can make it easier for future sellers to attract attention if they price carefully. The model’s reputation for reliability and low ownership costs should help support demand, especially among shoppers who prioritise practicality over excitement. Because the Corolla is still seen as a dependable compact car, it should remain relatively easy to move in the used market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Toyota Corolla safe?

The 2015 Toyota Corolla earns a Good rating from the IIHS in all assessments except the small overlap frontal-impact test, in which it rated Marginal, and it earns five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota’s safety content says there are no newfangled active safety systems in the Corolla. You do not get blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, active cruise control with forward-collision warning or automatic braking. A backup camera is about as sophisticated as it gets, and it is not standard. That means you should pay close attention to trim and equipment, because the Corolla’s safety story is more about basic crash performance than advanced driver assistance.

Should I buy a 2015 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends reliable, sensible transportation with a bit more style than a purely basic commuter.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $11,792 CAD, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $12,497 CAD average.
• It focuses on fuel-efficient daily motoring and long-term reliability.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $14,540 CAD, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $12,497 CAD average.
• It adds a more polished value-focused package with impressive fuel economy.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, satisfaction and availability, the 2015 is the sensible pick. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2014 is the cheaper route; if you want a newer-feeling value play and can spend more, the 2016 is worth a look.

How does the 2015 Toyota Corolla compare to the 2015 Honda Civic?

Our experts score the 2015 Toyota Corolla 6.2/10 and the 2015 Honda Civic 8.7/10. The Corolla leans harder into reliability, cost effectiveness and easygoing daily use, while the Civic comes across as the stronger all-rounder. If you want the more practical, value-first choice, the Corolla makes sense; if you want the better-rated compact car overall, the Civic is the one to beat.
