Is the 2014 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a vehicle that many owners find dependable, with praise centred on its trouble-free feel, all-weather confidence, and practical day-to-day usability. That kind of feedback suggests you can count on it as a long-term ownership choice if the example you’re considering has been maintained properly.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the model’s basic appeal and more about the condition of the specific vehicle you inspect.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Subaru Crosstrek?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you’re shopping carefully.

• Deal availability: 26.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 83 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.79% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $9,594 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?

The current average of $10,248 CAD sits slightly below last year's $11,752 CAD.

That price decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Crosstrek easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you purchase at a strong price, you may have a better chance of preserving value later because you are starting from a lower entry point. Demand should remain supported by the model’s practical appeal and all-weather usefulness.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 26.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a compact crossover with strong winter capability, everyday practicality, and a market that currently favours careful shoppers, the 2014 is a sensible choice. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, mileage, and asking price.
