The Bavarians have done it again.. they completely revamped the E63/E64 BMW 6 series that has came to an halt in production in 2010, and created a brand new, F12/F13/F06 BMW 6 series starting model year 2012. BMW first revealed the concept in September 2010 at the Paris Auto Show, and the actual model was released at teh 2011 Shanghai Auto Show and New York Auto Show. I have always loved how the previous generation E63/E64 looked and was not very optimistic when they revealed the concept and production car of the new F12/F13; however, it has begun to grow on me. BMW has eliminated all the "Bangle" lines and created a very futuristic and driver oriented 6-series. They fitted a 4.4 Litre V8 TwinTurbo Engine that produces 400/5500 HP and 450/1750 TQ; matched with the new ZF 8HP (8-speed steptronic) transmission, this amazing machine will pin you and your passenger to your seat when you put your foot down on the accelerator pedal. Although it is a heavy car at a 4531 lb (2055 kg) curb weight, it does feel like a lighter, more agile car. The build quality is excellent, with a very modern, driver-oriented dashboard, and a very comfortable optional heated/ventilated front seats. The top converts in 19 seconds and takes about 24 seconds to close, which makes it a wonderful long-trip cruiser on a sunny day in California, whether on the Pacific Coast Highway or on the freeway. The gas mileage is typical for a V8, with an EPA of 15/23 mpg, where I'm currently averaging about 18 miles to a gallon, which isn't bad for a large V8. Overall, this is a fabulous ultimate driving machine. It handles well, brakes well, and has plenty of power to zoom through traffic. If you are an eligible bachelor or you already have a few other cars that serves family purpose and are in the market for something that's a little more practical than a Porsche 911 or a MBZ (Mercedes Benz) SL550, you should definitely look into the all-new BMW 6 series.
