After owning three Corvettes and a couple of Mercedes roadsters, I am no stranger to performance. When I bought this 2005 CL55 AMG, I expected much more luxury with less muscle. (The verdict) This car has all the comfort of a flagship $130,000 Mercedes, no disappointment there. However, this 493HP supercharged screamer quickly puts all the bad boys in your backwash. Active Body Control, sport suspension mode, paddle shifters etc, gets it anywhere you want to be as quick, or quicker, than you want to get there. I was ready to accept the fact that it is OK for men my age to slow down, get comfy and cruise in style, which is easy to do in this car. However, in 4.6 seconds I can go from zero to sixty mph AND my internal clock goes from 60 to 21! Fun to drive? Duh? If not for a 155 MPH electro-limit, one might expect top speeds to get dangerously close to the 200 speedo peg mark. That's just stupid, but way cool, huh? In 2 years or ownership fuel economy is consistently over 18 mpg and expenses have been limited to routine service. 'nuff said!
