The LLY is a good reliable duramax engine. Not has powerful as a LBZ (2006.5-2007) but decent fuel milage and it doesnt have all the emission crap on it. The LLY was proned to overheating, which is easily fixed by adding a cold air intake, which I did.

great for long trips, pulls the camper well & hauls things excellent. have used it for lots of hauling and towing and always gotten along well with it the only problem we have had with it is the 4wd not wanting to engage.
