I loved this car - it's why I bought another one. This car was nothing more than a base model GL, but there were lots of features that came standard that in my opinion elevated it to something special. I've replaced it with a 2007 Passat Wagon 3.6L 4MOTION that has everything but navigation. The creature comforts would cost several thousand more in any other German brand.

I had to trade in my last Volkswagen, but I like it so much I got another. I haven't been disappointed yet!

Great fuel economy, 2.0 20v turbo four cylinder. Plenty of get up and go. (especially these days!) Tiptronic shift for when you want to play around. German engineering, quiet, solid. Whatelse?

Have had problems with acceleration ever since hitting 70k - there is a lot of jerking. There has been a consistent squeaking in my heater. Also, at one point my signal wouldn't go off that that a door was open - an electrical problem and costly fix. That being said, I am in my car for 5 - 9 hours a day so relatively speaking, I have had very few issues. The car is a blast to drive and very stylish. I feel safe driving it, even in snow, because it is very solid. This is a perfect car for someone who does a lot of driving (good gas mileage, comfortable) and wants safety. My first VW experience has been a positive one.

The passat with a 1.8 Turbo Handles like a dream. Not quite a cutting diamond kind of ride. Never lose the key will cost $200.00 bucks to replace. Must burn high test to keep the turbo running. Also needs synthitic oil. Oh well costs a few more bucks to keep running but worth it for the smooth ride. And sleek look.
