Performance: lots of power to play with and handles good.
Build Quality: They all have a problem in engine valve's.
Appearance: Looks good inside out and looks Tough.
Cost of ownership: Fuel she's to thirsty parts not bad price.
Fun factor: Awesome to drive on road and off road.

It's a great SUV. I like the leather seats, carpet roofs, and basically the entire interior. The suspension is strong. Although, I don't like the AWD. (Uses more gas than needed) and the sound system could be upgraded.

Even though it weighs a hefty 4330 lbs the explorer 5.0l v8 really gets up
and goes. The sound of the magnaflow exhaust is addicting and it is so
much fun to drive. Overall this vehicle has had common problems that
most ford vehicles suffer from. Like radiator, lower ball joints, water
pump, and other normal maintenance. Overall this is a strong runner and
very reliable vehicle.

great all round vehicle, strong runner with comfortable handling. the all wheel drive system makes for the complete package. Quiet interior with a quality sound system. Plenty of ground clearance for off road fun! Good acceleration whether towing or crawling thru the mud!

I think that this this was a very solid year for the Ford Explorer. The interior is very nice the seats are very comfy. The sound system is excelent for a 98. it handles very well for an SUV, and it looks very sharp, and I love it verry much!
