(26 reviews)Great on gas! I went on a trip to Illinois with my Cavalier and got 39 miles per gallon! This car is great for students or anyone looking for an older economical car. The only downside is if you want to change the oil yourself, the oil filter is very difficult to get to. The trick is that you have to take off the front passenger side wheel and remove the plastic pannel that is located in the wheel well and you're there. The first time was rough but you get used to it. Overall the Cavalier is great, I'm always hauling my friends around in it and will be for years to come. This from me to you -- Get a Cavy!
So far i've had this car for 7 months and i've put bout 35 000 km on it, with only minor problems. I had to replace part of the gas line due to rust, and the alternator, but other than that there has been no problems and i have put this car throught alot. It's a small 5 spd, 2 door car that gets you from point A to point B. I would have prefered a 4 door just for ease of people getting in and out, but other than that i love 2 door. The car is great on gas and handles pretty well for a 11 year old Cavalier. For a first car i have no complaints.
First car, very reliable and can take a beating
Build Quality- I had to replace: the turn signal switch lever, the fuel line by driver side rear tire. Had to repair: power steering lines, muffler and muffler hanger. Driver side door hinges are loose. Mirror on driver side sun visor cracked and is no longer on the visor. Fun Factor- was fun to drive when I first got it, but that was only because I just got my drivers license. now that Ive had it for over a year, im bored of it and ready for a new car.
It's a typical car. I'm not proud over owning it. It's very reliable (I put mine through A LOT) and it brakes/handles well...but the power/acceleration sucks. If Chevy had put in some better work and styling it would be a pretty sweet car. Too bad Chevy didn't hire me to style it ;) People compare it to sport compact cars and then say "it sucks", but it's not a sport compact, it's a typical economy car, and it does the job well.
