My 1984 F Tempo was built in March of 83. It had a 5 speed manual transmission. It did not have a timing belt. It had a timing gear that was internal to the engine. (Never had an issue w/timing.) This car had incredible torque! I could peel-out from a stand still & squeak the tires when I changed gears all the way to 5th! MY Tempo could flat out fly! (Well, almost. But you get the picture!) I had a recurring issue w/the TFI module going bad, but other than that, mechanically, it was a very dependable, low gas mileage car. I had this car for 13-14yrs. LOVED every minute of ownership.

I learnt to drive in this little beast. 4 cylinders of drving miss daisy pleasure. Quite slow but so incredibly reliable, even ran on unleaded without any additives which was great.

The car was really not made to be a speed devil but it does the job of A to B! The build is fine i have a few things that need repair such as the timing and such. The car is obviously from the 80s but have a cool and neat older look to it! If you can appreciate a older car then you would like this one!

I don't mind having an 84. It runs alright but there are a lot of features missing in this year that for some reason Ford had to put in the later year tempos.Not really impressed with the gas millage that it get but that may just be the one that I own. But all and all I am impressed in how much crap this car can take.
