Reviewed a 1973 Honda Hatchback on Dec 29, 2008
Transmission went out at twenty-one days and 700 miles. The dealer kept the car for 37 straight days. Needed plugs every 3200 miles and the hatch rusted out at twelve months and 9000 miles. It was fun to drive and got excellent mileage when it happened to be roadworthy. My next Civic, a '99 model, was a little better but not much. This thing about Honda quality is way overated. Worst cars I have ever owned. Gimme a Chrysler any day!

This was my high school car, and it was the best thing going. $3.00 filled up the tank at the time, and it seemed to run forever on that little tank of gas. It took us everywhere. When it got too old and feeble, it was small enouogh to drive and hold the passsenger door closed at the same time!

My parents bought this car brand new around 1973 and I remember other Honda Civic drivers honking back and forth when passing us. It was a “thing” at that time. Primarily it was my Mom’s car. She was born and raised in Japan.
